Family Guy is out and out funnier but the simpson's has a lot of great lines and it has been running for such a long time that having fresh ideas for each episode is a feat within itself.

I would say i would prefer to watch Family Guy

i like family guy alot better to. Before family guy simpsons was funny but now simpsons the humor is so dry. Peter and Stewie are the funniest two cartoon characters ever made.(exept of southpark)

I like family guy because it becomes ridiculous funny.
The simpsons has gone on a downward spiral this year. All of the simpson's humor is now like sarcastic and political stuff, not too much unbelievable.

Homer's intelligence is another disappointing factor, he used to be an every day idiot, now it almost seems like he is mentally retarded.

I still think Seth McFarland's got it going on

Family Guy is funny, but it was never tested through time like the Simpsons was. Sure, the Simpsons has been declining for the past 5 years, but it was good for a long long time. Family Guy has, what, 3 seasons total?

Not to mention that Family Guy owes about half of their profits to Simpsons for royalties for borrowed material.

Yeah, it get's old seeing the same fat father/loving mother/one smart kid/one evil kid/one baby jokes.

That's why I watch Family Guy instead.

My friend and I had this convo a while ago, we both agreed that Family Guy had more LPM= Laughs per minute, while the Simpsons doesn't.

Family Guy was a little more edgier/goofier than the Simpsons, but it was basically the same show. Family Guy has more "flashbacks" , like when Peter remembers something; its a pretty fast paced show in how its edited. It also seems to have a lot more Pop culture references. Or at least ones that relate to young adults 18-25.

Simpsons is classic, a little slower, and sometimes deeper, i don't care about the new ones, the old ones can be as funny as Family Guy. Its a little more mature, with some political jokes, and i think with a show like the Simpsons it realates to bow high and low brow comedy.

Family Guy seems medium brow. :P

I love both of them, I just find my self laughing a lot more and harder at Family Guy :)

Before it's decline, the Simpsons was better.. lately I can barely stand the show though. Now they either just do something completely random in an attempt to be funny, or shamelessly re-use jokes they did better in earlier seasons.

Only time will tell. The family guy, although very funny, was cut short. The Simpsons sucked when it very first started then hit it's all time best a few years later. Now the show is going by the way side. (Probably do to the voice actors holding out for more money, writer stupidity, and Fox trying in desperation to pull veiwers back to the show. When Family guy starts up agian this winter, I'll wait and see if it can stand up to the old. If it can keep coming year after year with fresh ideas it will get my vote. But as I said in the beginning; Only time will tell.

.....What material did they borrow? (Not being a smart azz, just curious)

I think the south park episode about "Simpsons did it" pretty much answers the question.

The fact that there's yet annother new show with same basic setup makes me laugh more than watching family guy does.

Did they get all the voice talent back for the new FG?

Seth Green is a lot more expensive now I'd imagine.

Family guy, without question.

Brian rocks, Stewie would beat Bart any day of the week (it's all in the British accent,) and Lois is ten times the babe Marge is.
