I have so far loved Berserk, Record Of The Lodis War, Escaflowne (series and movie), Vampire Hunter D, and Trigun. There are probably more, but my mind is drawing a blank.

What other good Animes are out there worth picking up. I am currently thinking about Witch Hunter Robin, and Samurai X: Ova Collection. Are there others that any one could suggest?, and yes I do prefer that it be in English.

Thanks for taking your time to read this.

Evangelion.

Find someone with the box set and a copy of "End of Evangelion" though, and be sure to watch them in order or you'll regret it.

Also, Helsing.

ahh, escaflowne movie and trigun are my favs ^^ if you like um.. romantic/comedy (i know, i know.. im such a girl :P ) i would suggest ranma 1/2 or ah, my goddess. for silly out-there humor i would say try dragon half. if you like beautifully animated jigglies, plastic little ^^ the story is REALLY weak, but its just so pretty..

and im not a big mecha fan but i really enjoyed the gundam wing series. havent gotten into any of the others yet.

cowboy bebop rocks too.

if you have the means, sign up to netflix. they have a really decent anime collection.

edit: btw, original voice actors > english dub actors ^^

In addition to everything else already mentioned (esp, Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion) try:

Rahxephon (similar to Evangelion in a way)
Fooly Cooly for pure insanity
Excel Saga for insane humor (be sure to catch the Puni Puni Poemi spin-off as well)
Noir was pretty good
Lain is a great mind trip
Same with Boogiepop Phantom
I also hear that Wolf's Rain is fantastic too.

Two best Anime's ever:

Naruto
Hellsing

I sware, I watched Hellsing in two days. It's only 13 episodes, but it is the best thing I have ever seen. Naruto is not far from Hellsing. IT has aroung 90 episodes, and I am still currently watching it. It is awesome too. I watched Naruto 1 - 30 in a few days. It is good. I highly suggest watching Hellsing and Naruto. I have also watched Rurouni Kenshin, Ranma, and Trigun. They can't begin to compare with Hellsing and Naruto. If you want good anime, watch those!

I agree somewhat with this statement. If you want to watch the series, I would suggest stopping at episode 62 since it marks the end of the best arc of the series. After 62, it's all downhill and the story fails to progress into anything decent.

Most of the other series I would have recommended have already been mentioned. If you're into sport animes, they're out there, ie. Prince of Tennis, Whistle (soccer), Hikaru no Go (not really a "sport" but let's not be picky), Boys Be (basketball)...there may be others, but these are all I'm aware of in the sports anime genre.

I would recommend the various El Hazard series, Tenchi Muyo, and Rune Soldier if you like laughs. As has already been said Evangelion is one of the best (You didn't mention Death & Rebirth). Wolf Rain is pretty good. Ah! My Goddess is another good laugh. Those Who Hunt Elvaan (oops I mean elves). Star Blazers is a good old series. Lets not forget Captain Harlock, Ninja Scroll, and Rayxapheon. I recommend you avoid Rayearth. Gah, I wish I didn't spend the money on that one. Robotech is the best. I can go on and I am running out of those in my collection that I can think of. Babylon 5 (oh thats not an anime!).

If you want a good laugh, Get Green Green
For some badass action Get Gantz
For a magic kinda thing going get Maburaho
For Ecchi kinda junk but good overall action and comedy get Great Teacher Onizuka

Theres quite a bit of badass ones, i say just look for a fansub, and take an episode from things that look good

Green Green...Don't watch it if your parents have a tendency to enter your room without knocking first, especially if your monitor faces the door. Lots of boobies in this series...Lots and lots of boobies...

Samurai X, Trust and Betrayal is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's beautifuly done, and just an exceptional movie - nothing like the series (Ruroni Kenshin). It is about how he became the Battosai and what made him decide to no longer kill. It is a must see.

And Inthefade is right...Hooly Cooly is interesting purely for the insanity of it.

Cowboy Bebop is a must. Wolf's Rain is interesting - something I'm going to have to watch, and I really like Witch Hunter Robin. I'm also partial to some of the other, more childish anime/cartoons when I have nothing better to watch, like InuYasha and YuYu Hakusho.

Princess Mononoke is pretty good, IMO. And if you are in the mood for more cutesy or "family" anime, Spirited Away is actually a decent movie. Akira was...interesting. Worth seeing at least once.

It isn't anime, but Futurama and Family Guy are musts. If you've never watched them, do yourself a favor and go rent/buy them. Right now. You won't regret it.

I personally liked Gundam Wing, especially Endless Waltz, but that's me. The entire Gundam series is pretty good, except that one they had on Cartoon Network that wasn't anime, but childish cartoons. The ones with "shrunken" gundams...

SD Gundam. Somehow, I don't know how america came up with the title "Superior Defender" as opposed to it's original.

How is Which Hunter Robin? I don't believe NetFlix has it yet. Vandread is another good laugh. The Bubblegum series used to be pretty good. I am not as sure about the new 2040 series though. Let's not forget Tank Police, Golden Boy. Those two will make you think that the Japanese are nuts. I miss Japan! Armitage series is good. I can't believe I forgot Princess Mononoke and Martian Successor Nadesico. Not to sure about Blue Gender or Blue Seed yet. Keep an eye out for a new Ghost in the Shell coming out at the end of the month. FF7 Advent Children would be nice to see, if it ever comes to the states.

Witch Hunter Robin is uber. I really loved it. It story starts off interesting, then seems to sort of become episodic, before it totally flips around and leaves you foaming at the mouth trying to figure out what will happen next. You said you preferred English dubs, right? The dubbing for WHR is very very good. Crispen Freemen (Alucard of Hellsing) does one of the main voices. Robin's voice especially suited her. The animation is good quality, and the opening song just rocks.

Hm, other good English dubs that I can think of are:
Cowboy Bebop
Gundam Wing
Gundam Seed
Hellsing
Inu Yasha
Ranma 1/2
Trigun
Vandread
Wolf's Rain

Good comedy series (haven't seen English version of it): NieA_7
Awesome (Chinese mythos) fantasy series: The 12 Kingdoms
Awesome comedy series (no English available): Kodomo no Omocha

I think a lot of people are going to disagree with me here but I would suggest Final Fantasy Unlimited. Just my Opinion though.

Hellsing has to be very very close to my all time favorite.

Cowboy Bebop...what can I say...Just watch the series before the movie. I don't think the movie does it justice.

Trigun. Currently watching that right now and I love it.

I am just really getting started into the anime world, and I have a lot to catch up on. So much anime...so little money...sigh
