NCAA Football 2005Follow

released "officially" today. I needed a break from FFXI anyway...

Have to get the Xbox out of storage (which I modded just before the release of FFXI and been collecting dust ever since) and pick up NCAA on my lunch break.

Samurai Warriors for Xbox is supposed to be out today as well. Good thing I put that case of Abita Purple Haze on the fridge...

Wow this NCAA Football is the biggest i have ever seen it. I went to the mall yesterday and I saw lines of people at ten minutes to closing that were still buying the game.

I had 2002 and 2003 and I loved those games, but they always lacked
compared to the Madden games. I hope this year's version is much improved with online play.

So i take it you went to the store to buy it today?

Im not big on fighting games or any of that samurai stuff. I guess I am just with the masses waiting for GTA San Andreas.

But what I really cant wait for is Gran Turismo 4. That will be the only game to peel me away from EQoA

I am thinking about picking it up, but I have never had an NCAA Football game before (I almost always get the new Madden games instead). I guess I will have to see how I feel after work today.

Let us know how good NCAA is. I'm not as big of a fan of NCAA as I am of Madden, but I need my football fix soon.

Btw, the reviews I've read of Samurai Warriors make it sound like more of a rental.

Yeah, I plan on playing the hell out of NCAA tonight, I'll give some impressions tomorrow.

I always liked the Dynasty Mode in NCAA more than Madden, it sounds even sicker now... but in a double-edged sword kind of way. One of the new features in Dynasty Mode is keeping your student athletes in line... If their grades start slipping, you must get them up (don't know how it's implemented yet), or you could play them and risk academic probation. Also, no such thing as redshirting all willey-nilley... some of your blue chippers may not appreciate sitting on the bench (now the "playing time" recruiting pitch means something this year).
While that sounds great, it seems almost impossible to sim a whole season if you needed without breaking every week to micro manage (a la Madden's owner mode).

Another cool feature I didn't know about til I read the back of the package... "Create-A-Sign". I can't wait to see "F*CK THE 'CANES!" in the stands.

Played a bit of NCAA today after I got home. I am massivly impressed. It brought tears to my eyes hearing Rocky Top being played everytime I scored against my roommate (yes, I am from Tenn. and no, it didn't really make me weepy).

The coolest thing is the Mascot game, where teams of Mascots battle it out in a game.

XBOX Live support owns also.

Now I just have to wait two months for NHL 2005.

I went ahead and bought it today too. It's out-damn-standing. Crowd noise rocks.

The new defensive AI rocks (I actually have trouble scoring against good defenses now, but I have the no. 1 defense).

The matchup stick is nice, but I'd prefer the "playmaker" dealy from last years Madden.

I can't say enough about this game except for...Go Hokies!

haha

I played/simmed a season with Oregon last night

went 11-1, beat Oklahoma in some bowl, retained a 5 star prestige. Wait till your first offseason ... craziness.

DO NOT let your CPU do your recruiting. I simmed the recruiting, got the 25th best class in the nation. I then exited out without saving, and did it my self... got the 2nd best recruiting class in the nation. I may have skimmed a bit on my disipline budget... just call Oregon "FSU North".

any of you guys mess w/ create-a-sign yet? Whitehead (the Duck's HB) breaks a 28 yard TD... cut to fans in the crowd with a sign that reads "Lee Corso is a filty ****sucker!". Awesome.

As for the Vols... they stole my top two recruits (CB and WR). Bastards.

Is anyone else having a problem with the passing game?

I've only played 4 games with VT, but I can't do **** throwing the ball. I've never seen so many dropped balls. The ones they're dropping are easy catches too.

Couldnt have said it better myself. Does anyone like this guy? Well, besides FSU fans? I swear Corso wants to give blowjobs to every player who is on a Florida football team.

Live with it. NCAA football has been like this since the first one they made. I dont think they will ever fix it.

the Gamefaqs and ign boards are riddled with posts on the "slowdown" (you know what I'm talking about if you played for at least one set of downs)and the passing game. I can't tell you all the names I came up with for my TE (who somehow ranked 5th in the nation). My first game of the season, I ran him across the middle right under the safeties. All he had to do was catch the damn ball and turn the corner for six.

"Whoa! the Quarterback needs to settle down on those throws"
"...AND HE DROPS ANOTHER ONE"

I swear if I see that animation where the reciever looks at his hands and shakes his head one more time, I'm running the ball 100% of the time the next game.

BTW, I forgot to mention something else VERY cool affecting recruiting... the "ATH" position. Very, very cool.

Best advice, crank it up in practice mode and put a ton of dbs out there and throw...it helps.
