Salt on Watermelon?Follow

Okay... this might be a thing relating to where you grow up... but my family always has put salt on their watermelon ^^

Anyone else ever do this? I know my family is odd, but well, arent we all =)

It's not that uncommon. I know a few people who put salt on cantelope too.

But not me, that's just disgusting.

I put salt on Oranges, but not Watermellon.

Ok, I love lots of salt. Espically on a steak or chicken. But on a fruit!?! Thats crazy to me.
From Illinois, mabey thats got something to do with it.

blech! I put sugar on stuffs liek grapefruits but not melons! and definitely not SALT!? lol thats so odd :P

Nah, it's common other places in the world. It contrasts with the sweetness and makes it seem sweeter.

aha... so that is what it actually does ::laughs:: I have always done it... never quite understood why tho ^^

heck when I was little I used to salt my food because I thought that would cool it down...

Everyone I know does the salt+watermelon thing. It IS Tennesee, however.
Except me, I hate watermelon. The seeds are a pain....
