Instant Supper?Follow

#1 Jul 04 2004 at 5:50 AM Rating: Decent
This may be really out of topic but I just made myself supper(adults don't have mom anymore)I'm right out of college by the way. Oh,my parents didn't pay for my school either. I had a Student Loan and I worked at Pizza Hut through my four years. But back to the topic. I'm sure everyone likes mash potatoes, but the effort involved in peeling them, boiling them, mashing them. Can never equal the ease of instant mashed potatoes. I truly love them! Boil a cup and a half of water, half a cup of milk, and two spoons of butter.Once it boils, remove from heat, add pouch, then wait 5 minutes. They may taste a little different than homemade but who cares. What your favorite quick meal? In my opinion, it shouldn't take longer for me to cook than it does to eat. I'm just a slave to the microwave and to Pizza Pops.

Bah... when it comes to mashed potatoes I would MUCH rather have my moms recipe...

Red Bliss potatoes, washed and cubed.

Boil them til their soft then mash like there is no tomorrow.

Add a stick or two of butter (depends on how much potatoes are in there)

Add a bar of cream cheese along with some onion flakes...

and then a half a pint of sourcream.

Mix and there you go ^^ much tastier then insta potatoes. My fiancee asks for me to make them all the time =D

Well, due to the fact that I'm a lazy ****, I tend to cook one dish meals unless I have company. One of my favorite lazy *** dishes is:

Chicken and rice:

Boil 1 hen until the meat is falling off the bone.
Remove hen from broth, allow to cool.
Shred meat, toss the bones, skin and any fat
Strain broth through a colander. Put all of broth back in pot
Add shredded meat and 3 cups of rice.
Season to taste.
Simmer until rice soaks up broth.

You can eat off this until you never want to see a chicken again. I usually wind up feeding some of it to my animals. I also do lasagna pretty often.

I have this thing about a meal: it must include some sort of real meat. Chicken is about as light as I let it get.

Personally, I would rather have some beef. Just bring it out to the table. I'll carve off what I want and ride the rest home.

But that's too much work if I'm just cooking for me.
