Well, with the Fourth of July coming up soon, I'm just wondering if the United States citizenz out there are proud of being an in the US, and if the Canadians, French, Germans, Brits, etc... are proud not to be an American. I'm just wondering...

As for me, I'm going to go listen to some more of Lee Greenwood's song, "Proud to eb an American"

I dont understand why my honest, truthful question deserved a flame. So you are saying everone south of the Canadian border is retarded? Are you Canadian? If so, why did you take offense to my question?

I ponder this one every time that I cross the border and the Canadian border guard accosts me for stating my nationality as American.

Simple im Canadian, but ive spent time in the United States and there is a difference and only an American with no clue would say **** like that.

That would be like saying going to China and Korea are the same thing. Well maybe not that pronounced but you get the jist of it.

No! You ***. Anyone who lives in the continents of North or South America is an American. I am a U.S. citizen.

Koreans and Chinese are Asians.

You are saying that I have no clue about your anger because you choose to side with the ignorant masses that believe U.S. citizens are the only Americans and you do not want to be lumped in with us in discussions.

It is ethnocentric thoughts and comments like yours that sustain the volatile relations around the world.

Tango and Cash was possibly the worst movie in the history of the world.

Well Bhodi, I should have known better than to get into an argument over America with you, but I must ask: What do you like better; the Ameican influence on you or the U.K.'s influence on you?

At this point I would trade GWB for Tony Blair and throw in Shaq even if I knew that our deficit would grow double by losing a game of basketball.

Do you hate hicks, hicks from most southern states, or only hicks from most southern states, specifically the states like Georgia? I need a little clarity on this, so I can decide how much enthusiasm to put into it when I tell you to GFY.

There are a lot of contenders here, but yeah, it is defintely one of them.

What could possibly be good about this movie? The fact that there's no sequel?

I don't take any particular pride in being an American. After all, its not something I've acheived, I just happened to be born here. There are times, however, when my country does something right, that I am proud of it. The reverse is also true.

Well i would have to say that the UK's influence has diminished to the point where it is not even there, or is at least purely ceremonial. Not like back in the day say in 1914 when we automatically had to goto war when Great Britain went to war.

America is another story, they have influence both good and bad. They definitely have a stronger influence, mainly in the form of economics, if canada doesnt follow American policy it seems that tariffs and such start coming into effect.

Also US has hard on for pushing missle defense on us even though we dont want it and have pretty much threatened that if we dont join up the US will never commit troops or help to the defense of Canada if anything ever goes down. Also once again the threat of economic sanctions and tariffs and throwing extra red tape in the way with anything to do with Canada.

But for the most part you are good neighbouors, we get along well, you cant blame US for trying to use its weight to see that laws getting put into motion in a neighbouring country are US friendly. U.S. is a major factor good or bad in the Canadian economy since we export the majority of our goods to you.

The American people for the most part are truly nice people, im not a fan of the Bush government but i would never say America is evil or that everyone in it is evil just because the government is bad news right now.

I just get extremely defensive when some American that has probably only spent a week vacationing in canada and has never read a canadain newspaper or couldnt even name all the political parties in Canada or when Canada was founded starts braying that Canada is practically part of the US.

Sorry Krogsbrew, dont take it personally. Matter of fact i have enjoyed some of your posts in the past but its a touchy subject for me.

Do you mean:
(1) A citizen of the United States of America

or...

(2) any person legally living on the continents of North/South America?

I only ask because, judging by the posts before mine, there was a bit of controversy, racial hatred, and outright pissy attitudes that will not in any way ruin my enjoyment of mixing beer and explosives later tonight^^

And just for the record, I personally love everyone (be it age, color, sex, nationality, planet, whatever), unless you happen to be an @%%hole.

EDIT: USA! USA! USA! *bottle rocket explodes* WHOOOOOOO!^^

I guess I'm thinking old school, back when they would just take over a plane, force the pilot to fly it somewhere weird, like the Sudan, and pop a few Americans before eventually giving up or killing themselves. But that's all so 1980s.

Yeah terrorism has grown so much since those days of paltry attacks against a few Americans, or if you prefer, U.S. citizens.

The new fad is just complete, meaningless destruction.
