Your favorite Football player of all timeFollow

For me, Barry Sanders. I was a Detroit Lions fan before he got there (I really missed Billy Sims after he left) but even were I not a fan, I would have been electrified by his incredible ability. The most fun to watch player I've ever seen (seen a good amount of tape on Gayle Sayers and I think Sanders was more fun to watch).

Second favorite would probably be Art Monk. The guy was class. Great receiver.

Who's yours? For your Euro's who's your favorite football (soccer) player...

In American Football the positions are so specialized that it's pretty much impossible to pick one "favoriate player".

Montana, LT, Jerry Rice, Jim Brown, Ronnie Lott, I could name a dozen favorite players by position.

Soccer is simmilar, but I think Pele would still get my vote.

Good picks. Barry Sanders was just amazing, and being a Redskins fan, I can't argue with Art Monk.

I'd have to go with Darrel Green. No player ever contributed any more to the Redskins than that man. That man's speed was just unreal.

Ahh, cmon. This is a gimme.

One football player has provided me with more entertainment than any other. Hell, more than all the others combined.

I disagree. I think it's perfectly plausible to pick a favorite player.

The tough/pretty impossible part would be picking a best player of all time.

One of the great things about Barry Sanders is that when he scored a touchdown, he'd kneel, toss the ball to the ref, and get off the field. Just did his thing, quickly and without showing up the competition.

That's a good point. You are correct sir.

My favorite player would probably be Ty Law. Not the best at his position, but the most fun for me to watch decapitate recivers going over the middle.

I'd like to say Walter Payton, but I never actually saw him play.

I've always liked Ed McCaffrey.

Payton was a great football player. He also wasn't a showboat. Very workman-like.

God, Smash, what if it had been gbaji that I disagreed with? We'd be spending three pages reading his argument over why he's right and I was wrong. And all three of those pages would have been ONE post...

:)

Ty Law? Man, he hasn't decapitated anyone in 5 years. Trust me, I live in Boston, we know this stuff about our Pats. The hitting has been done by Lawyer (man, I want him back in silver and blue) and now its Harrison and Eugene Wilson (I know ya'll saw that AFC championship game...hehe Stoakley and Wayne getting KO shots late in the game)

But for my favorite player of all time...hands down....Sweetness

No one ever played with as big a heart in as small a frame as Walter Payton. His hit them before they hit you philosophy, man that should be the RB holy grail. Yes Barry Sanders was fun to watch, and Emmitt is the leading rusher all time, and James Brown did a TON in 9 years and all have an extrardinary love for the game, but none put his body on the line like Walter. Best RB ever, not even a contest.

Pfft. Eugene wilson may not even make the team this year. Of course Safetys are going to make more tackles than cornerbacks. That doesn't mean they hit harder. There're no Superbowls without Law. That really can't be said about too many other players on the team.

Man Eugene wilson is gonna start again this year. Trust me, Safeties hit much harder than corners. There hasn't been a corner in years that has struck fear into a WR. Plus if a CB is making a hit over the middle, he's either way behind his guy in coverage or in the wrong zone. The only place a WR gets scared to catch the ball is in between LBs or in the middle of the field at about 15-25 yards, cuz the SAFETIES are looming. Harrison, Lott, Milloy, those guys make their names by ripping peoples faces off at every opportunity, whens the last time you saw a CB drill someone. It doesn't happen.

haha

actually, he was a very nice guy off the field. My family got to know him from going to Eagles training camp all the time when it used to be held at West Chester. He had dinner at our house and spoke at my brother's elementary school.

I'm still a hold out fan of his from back when he was he played for the Vols in college.

For the same reason, I guess I'm an Ashley Lelie fan too (Hawaii is one of the schools I always use in NCAA Football).

I used Hawaii cuz theyre SICK uniforms, next to texas tech those are my favorites. Ashley Lelie is good but it's time for his breakout year. And with no superstar back anymore, hes got nowhere to go but up.

Yup, we always follow our Hawaii players (what with no professional teams and all). I'm not sure Ashley's gonna be a star, but we're rooting for him.

Jason Elam: Greatest kicker ever (well, not really but from behind our rose-colored glasses...)

OH NO, Jason Elam is not the best kicker ever. He's up there, but not the best. Morten Andersen, Nick Lowry, George Blanda...all those guys would be good arguments. This may be biased but whos the only kicker to ever win not only one, but two, Superbowls with last second kicks.....HMMMMMMM
