Doesn't matter if it's music to make you crazy, cry, or chill.

What are your top five albums to drink to?

5) Led Zepplin "IV" - trite, I know, but still a good CD with some nice ballady type songs and some out and out rockers.

4) Otis Redding "The Very Best of Otis Redding" - good, if not depressing, slow music to chill out and/or commisserate with.

3) The Clash "The Clash" - Janie Jones, London Calling and I Fought the Law, need I say more?

2) Mazzy Star "So Tonight That I Might See" - ethereal, depressing, and beautiful. Good music to drown your sorrows to.

1) Flogging Molley Swagger - good irish/punkish music to sing and drink to. Gotta have some Irish music when you're drinking.

If you want depressing look no further then Billy Joel. Captain Jack makes you want to shoot yourself.

Plus he has the best drinking song ever. Yup you know what it is... Piano Man.

OMG.. seeing the name is making me almost cry...

I can honestly say that if I got drunk and listened to this I would in all likelyhood commit suicide.

I prefer Hank Williams Sr. wehn I'm drinking.
good call on Zeppelin though.

1.Blood/Suger/Sex/Magik :- Red hot Chilli Peppers.

Classic album that has every thing good about rock/funk all rolled into one bouncing package.

2.Freak of Nature :- Freak of Nature.

Pure hardcore Hard rock played as well as it can be played, you just have sit back, sip on the JD and smile baby.

3.Roll the bones :- Rush.

A more chilled out rocky album by the masters of concept albums a classic fussion of rock and poetry.

4.Seventh Son of a Seventh Son :- Iron Maiden

The best made Metal album ever in my opinion.

5.Automatic for the people :- REM

Even metalheads have to chill and this is my wind down Album.

thats my choise, no the best ablums in the world but if i had to take 5 thats what i would take.

Everybody hurts..........Sometimes.

Nope, bluegrass or mountain would be closer than that.

Hell, even gospel.

The only country song to drink to is "Fishing in the Dark", in my opinion.

Nope.

But you might have prove me wrong by pointing out the Gin and Juice cover by a country band...

"Two ******* in the living room gettin' it on" just sounds so much cooler in country...

Oh yeah.. albums

The Wall, Pink Floyd -- Works if you're getting stoned as well but I don't do that any longer. Cheap trip to high school nostolgia to get drunk and listen to this, though

Concrete Blonde, Concrete Blonde -- The self titled one with "Still in Hollywood" on it. Much like the above choice, only this is college nostolgia and much less self indulgent and pitying.

So Tonight That I Might See, Mazzy Star -- As Grady. Good if I'm drinking something like wine. Hope Sandoval and beer doesn't work for me.

Pale Sun, Crescent Moon, Cowboy Junkies -- Excellent mellow music to have a couple beers and chill with. Margo Timmins is less pretenstious than Ms. Sandoval so beer works just fine Smiley: wink I'm squeezing in a sixth by saying that The Caution Horses (by the same) also works if I'm feeling a bit more melancholy.

The Future, Leonard Cohen -- Ha! Get all jazzed up on the first couple of tracks, joyful during "Closing Time", start to wind down, pick up a little bit back with "Democracy" then you get ************ by "Light As The Breeze" and get all depressed. It's a drunken emotion tour de force!

It could be me. I kinda know her a bit. A friend of mine (Colm) is the guitar player in her new project. He used to be the drummer for My Bloody Valentine. Nice crew all 'round.

The Hope's new project = excellent. It's called Bavarian Fruit Bread.

Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions? Yeah, I've got BBF. But I still think it was Grady who pointed it out to me while we were discussing Mazzy Star one time on the old uBB forums.

As I recall, I came across a Mary Fahl solo album while picking BBF. Good day all around!

Heh. I listen to that cd all the time drinking jack daniels alone and it always makes me happy.. maybe im weird or just listen to insanely depressing music but i always found mazzy star upbeat.

I listen to lots of nick cave when drunk.. some of the best music to drink whiskey alone too and sing along or just listen to the lyrics whatever your into.

She Hangs Brightly isn't bad. Of course, that's the one album where Hope doesn't sing like she just had her wisdom teeth extracted.

My favorite review of Mazzy Star was from a Rolling Stone magazine where they said "Mazzy Star makes the Cowboy Junkies sound wired." Smiley: laugh

Sublime "40 oz to Freedom" - also good for getting stoned, which is something that I am doing less and less of these days.

Flogging Molly "Swagger" - Watching a room full of drunks dancing and singing along to "Salty Dog" and "Every Dog Has His Day" is fun.

Flogging Molly "Drunken Lullabies" - Fuck, the name says it all.

Steve Earl "Shut Up And Die Like An Aviator" - Great live recordings. Just don't do any heroin.
