I am not exactly sure how many people out there that use this board have actually experienced a good pvp thrilling experience... But if you have played Ultima Online, Diablo II, or Everquest all have some form of pvp scripted in. I know in Jeuno there is battles against nations but I was thinking something more like Everquest where you ask the person to duel and they have the right to decline or accept. I personally like Ultima Online's pvp system in which each server has two worlds, 1 in which you can not fight other people and 2 where you can fight other people where ever and when ever. If you have ever got on to player run shards of Ultima Online where people built there own servers of UO the pvp was much more intense. Some shards had tags such as (PVP) or (NONPVP) next to the names of people and attacking amongst the two was not enabled. I know this is a really long post but it is something I think would really work out well on FFXI!!!!

I like PVP. The plumbing for my swimming pool is all PVP. Not sure how we could improve it, but it's a good idea to talk about it.

PVP is pointless in any game where the players don't start off equally before each session. PVP works great in Halflife, it sucked in EQ, it sucked in DAOC, it sucked in UO, it sucked in Shadowbane...

Need I go on?

First off it didnt suck in UO or EQ you just must not have known how to use tactics with fighting another player rather than always PvM. Now you say players dont start off equally? That is the point in scripting a accept/decline system so the lower level n3wbs can level up or just fight people there level instead of a level 75 walking around killing all the n3wbs.... It also gives people a chance to gain a new experience in rpgs rather than always PvM,which gets really old. Some people may have disliked PvP in such games but if you understand and know how to PvP it can be very interesting.

PVP is awsome, I enjoy fighting something that actually takes some skill to kill rather than:

/autoattack ON
/petattack
/taunt
/bash
/cast DOT/DD

/repeat

Just goes to show why I like EQ, UO, and other online games that are not full of newbs scared of fighting something other than a digital animation scripted to do the samething over and over. The only person to respond in a positive sense was an Everquest gamer....

there is a great allure in PvP.

i have great exiting memories of my time spent on Sullon Zek...

i remember I had just met another 'Newt' and we were getting aquainted, just BSing and this 'Good' runs by. we chased this ****** through half of Queynos.. the poor *******.. but we got him in the end.. beat the ****** to a bloody pulp. Good fun.

Also there was the Newtral hangout in those mountains to the East of Queynos.. where ever I've long forgot the name..
But once in a while a high level Good or Evil would come through and start masacring people left and right.. People would be scrammbling, yelling for help... my god it was crazy.. but very invigorating..
