Rock in Rio II, 1991
Guns n' Roses, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Queensryche (I've yet to have the chance to see these guys in concert since, unfortunately)
Actually a bit of a story behind this... I was in my teens back then, around 15. I wasn't supposed to go, but some of my friends were driving down there, so the day we left, I left a note on the fridge. 7 of us in a 3 man pickup. I was one of the people stuck in the back, and it was probably the best time of my life. From Dallas, Texas down to Rio, Brazil. There was almost a million people in attendance, 700,000 people.
This was also the first big concert including Sepultra, though at the time, they were only a national headliner, hadn't yet reached internation status.
I went again for III, but it paled in comparison. I can count on one hand the number of bands that were decent to listen to, with only a few worth coming for (Iron Maiden, Guns n' Roses, Queens of the Stone Age), and the rest were, at best, mediocre, and alot of them crap.
I did enjoy myself in the nightclub though, I ran into Axl there, and don't know how he distinguished himself as an *** everywhere else. Seemed nice enough in person.

Wow Dallas to Rio, thats a hell-of-a hall. How long did it take to get down there? Bet the scenery was awesome.

mmm counting crows. I saw them last July (I think) at the Marcus Amphitheater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Along with them was Graham Colton and John Mayer (why, God...why??). Badass concert except for the obvious. Another good one was Matchbox 20 with Sugar Ray and Maroon 5 (before they made it big and started sucking). It was sometime in May either last year or the year before, also in Milwaukee but at the Cellular Arena.

Haggan are these groups kind of like AFI or are they more underground? AFI has a really great sound to their music.

I was standing right in front of the stage - 2 feet from Cobain for the entire show. I even got to hold his hand for a little while between one of their songs. That was a really awesome show.

A ton of fun doing it, and, being teenagers, it took us the better part of 2 weeks to actually get there.

Way more underground than that crappy wanna-be-punk AFI. Good luck finding Cruxshadows or Bella Morte stuff in cd stores, Bauhaus is easier to find.

Best show: Pink Floyd 1993 Metrodome. The only band in the world that can make that piece of **** venue sound spectacular.

Haggan, just curious, have you ever heard of Tristania or Graveworm? They're like... Gothic metal and epic goth death metal respectively. Oh, and best Concert... Probably the year Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson were together at Ozzfest... Good times XD

Ok, now that's just spifferiferous. I had never even heard of this band until I downloaded an AMV of Vampire Hunter D set to their song "Red Right Hand." I love the song, and their sound.
As for me, best concert ever. KISS, Skid Row, and Ted Nugent! I tell ya, that brought back memories from when I was a little kid, hearing the Skid Row songs, and of course, how can you beat seeing Nugent shoot a flaming arrow at a guitar, and then seeing Ace shooting fireballs OUT of his guitar.
3 shows stick out for me:
1987 - Pink Floyd - Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour- My first concert ever. Nothing will ever compare to this, that is of course unless Roger Waters decides to re-unite with them which will NEVER happen.
The Cure - 1989 Giants Stadium. Opening bands were Love and Rockets, Shellyan Orphan and The Pixies. Incredible show.
1991 or 92- Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magic tour - Roseland Ballroom, NYC- Opening bands were Pearl Jam (TEN had just come out that day) and The Smashing Pumpkins. Thatsa Helluva Show.

I went to a show on that Chili Peppers Tour as well. Was in Minneapolis, and the sound for the openers (Pearl Jam then Smashing Pumpkins) was awful. The Peppers put on a helluva show though.

Downloaded some Tristania last night.. it's some nice stuff, reminds me of the band Paradise Lost. haven't found Graveworm though. Although when downloadin the Tristania I found some more KMFDM singles I didn't have.
Wow, another KMFDM fan. Out of curiosity, which singles did you find? I try to get my hands on everything they put out. I even got a tattoo as a band around my forearm of the string of symbols that was the title of the Symbols album.
Unfortunately, everytime they've had a show near me, I've missed it for one reason or another.

I never really thought about it that way, but now that you mention it... It does have a Paradise Lost feel to it... As for Graveworm, I had hell finding any of it on the internet, and what I did find took forever to download.

Concert that pissed me off the most (but was still awesome):
Nine Inch Nails w/ Marilyn Manson and The Jim Rose Circus Side Show. The one where Larry H. Miller (Utah Jazz owner and BIGGOT!!) banned Marilyn Manson from playing and Trent Reznor brought him out on stage anyway where he proceeded to tear up the bible. Turned out to be just as entertaining as if he had played his set.

To be quite honest, I didn't go to the concert to see them, I hadn't even heard of them when I went. But during the concert, I went to the table selling stuff and bought the cd's they had out at the time, and listening to them on the way home :)
Greenday at MCI Center is Washington, DC in June of 2002. They've been my favorite band ever since their Dookie CD came out (I was 13 at that time). Wow, they played a lil bit of all their albums. They even pulled up people from the audience to play their insturments. It was a kick *** concert. They only thing that made it suck was that Blink 182 followed them. (Booo)

I've never seen them live, but I've heard good things. A friend of mine saw them and said they took requests. Played (or at least tried to) "Eye of the Tiger" by Surviour, "Whats that Smell" by Lynard Skynard.
