Has anyone heard this piece of ****? Just joking, I am actually a big B Boys fan, even though the last album, Hello Nasty, was lame.

I haven't been impressed with a Beastie Boy's song since their first couple albums. Everything since that has sucked badly IMO.

Which was the last one that you could stand? I think that their best album was Check Your Head. I am quite partial to Ill Communication, though.

Um... I couldn't tell you the names of any of their albums. While I enjoyed some of their earlier stuff via radio and friends, I was never impressed enough to actually buy any of their albums.

They're just a band that was ok when they came out (interesting mix of rock and rap), and has just kinda gone downhill since then IMO.

B Boys are pioneers of Jewish Hip Hop. Their sound deffinately changes from album to album, but their skills certainly have not declined. You should give the B Boys props on the account of longevity if nothing else. As far as pop-chart play goes, that barely scratches the surface of their tallent and musical range.

OK jewish hip hop doesnt exist unless they rap about circumcision and bah mitzvahs(sp?). what they sing is hip hop. yes they were pioneers of white hip hop, not so much jewish hip hop, but still pioneers. however since license to ill came out, well theyve basically blown goats. anyone who says pauls boutique is their best album is just trying to sound educated in the field of beastie boys. dont get me wrong, each album has had its share of good tunes, but nothing comes even close to the "listenability" of the whole album as their first record.

Hello Nasty really, really scared me off of any future Beastie Boys purchases. I will copy this off of a friend tho, they owe me a free album.

He can write 20,000 words about how great trickle down economics is, but this is all he can write about music.

Typical republican response to the arts. Precisely why my high school had no art program or music.

Ok that republican statement was a little out there dude. not everything in this world is partisan.

If it's not Paul's Boutique, chances are I'm not listening to it (as far as the Beastie Boys go).

While ill admit that Hello Nasty was not there best album im gonna stand up for it, Negotiation Limerick Files, Grasshopper Unit, Unite, Super Disco Breakin.

And they had to try something new Check your Head and Ill Communication were amazing albums but were awfully similar and you dont want to get into that trap as an artist. Plus the more time goes by the more i appreciate the album.

Props to Bhodisattva and BingoSan for telling it like it is. On the contrary, BingoSan, they are Jewish and they rap, they may not rap about subjects that pertain specifically to the Jewish community, they rhyme about muffins and other nonsense, but that may be a trademark of their style.

I bought the album the other day and I love it. It's way better than Hello Nasty. The more you listen to it the more it grows on you. And it's great background music for parties and playing FFXI :)
The only problem is the copy protect it has doesn't allow it to work in my factory car CD changer.

If they had stuck with the same old frat-boy comic relief thing that they were doing 20 years ago, they never would have lasted this long. Besides, it's hard to live for 20 years and not learn a little something about life. People change and I think their music reflects that. I respect the fact that they went from being basically the novelty act for Def Jam that no one took seriously, to the self-supporting artists that they are now.

The new album is pretty good, IMO. It's definately a different sound than the typical hip-hop stuff that's out there now. It's very minimalist and old-school, but it's got some quality production value and has a good sound all around.

They're pushing the leftist thing pretty hard on a couple of the new tracks, which is automatically going to make certain people hate them, but that's cool. They're free to think and say what they want, and like one of thier new songs says, "and if you don't like it then hey f*ck you!"

So, I guess I should Check, check, check...check it out! then.

Considering he was speaking to the poster child for the flawed logic part of the Republican party, I think he was close to the mark. I've never in my life seen more drivel with less meaning than a typical gbaji post.

Personally, I loved Licensed to Ill, Paul's Boutique, and Check your Head. Haven't heard the new album, but haven't been impressed with their efforts in awhile.

Seems like the Bloodhound Gang picked up where the Beasties left off awhile ago. Granted, it's even more juvenile humor, but the combination of rap and rock is a great homage to the Beasties at their best.

Good one Grady about it the Bloodhound Gang picking up where the Beasties left off.

Anyway, who is this Gbaji character? From the two posts about him he sounds like a diehard conservative. I too am republican, but Im from the state that has ahd to deal with Ted Kennedy for 30 years....you get sick of him and his antics after a while. However, if you know this kid guy dude lady whatever is a Republican and is blowing it our his/her/its ***, then just dont listen. I know Dems that are like him too, and you just hit a point where you know its partisan BS and its time to walk away.

Yeah, I used to be Republican leaning. Then I realized there's more to life than just worrying about me.

I agree. Either the outspoken left or right can turn people off. There's room in the middle for most of us.

After that i said i could never side with anyone so stupid....boy, the R's got their share too *cough* Trent Lott *cough*

Ha, those guys are from right near where I live. The DJ ("Q" something) spins records at this bar I go to on Thursday nights. He's a pretty cool guy too, decent variety of music.
