Hmm, what context are you talking about? Are we talking about you going fishing IRL or in a game?

If it's the former of the two, any old pole will work, and live bait is usually best. Just make sure it's fresh and not rotten/dead.

If it's the latter of the two, you're in the wrong forum.

An open reel and standard pole will be sufficient to get you started. The bait really depends on what your fishing for. Use lures for larger fish, and worms for smaller ones. I would recommend Canadian nightcrawlers for most standard freshwater fishing including panfish like bluegill, sunfish, and even small bass
