PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wisconsin (AP) -- A father and two sons missing from Chicago for more than a month were identified Sunday as the bodies that washed ashore on Lake Michigan bound together by nylon rope and tied to bags filled with sand.

Glad to see my taxes help keep the streets of America safe.

Makes me feel like my years of military were really worth it.

If I ever commit suicide, that's the way I'm going to go.

To make a long story short, I don't take any responsibility for anything I post here. It's not news, it's not truth, it's not serious. It's parody. It's satire. It's bitter. It's angsty. Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Yeah, I heard about it on the radio this morning. Father, a three year old and a six year old. I'm assuming they say suspicious because it may have been set to look like a suicide but the cops aren't convinced. They said this morning that they were treating it as a homocide, at any event.

Hmmm... I haven't read the whole story, but how the heck are they thinking it looked like a suicide?

Ok. Now maybe he tied himself and his two kids up to ropes, attached the other ends to sandbags, and then they all jumped into the lake, but that seems just bizaare. First off. It's almost impossible to tie a rope around yourself tight enough that you can't get out of it if you really need to. Even the most despondant suicide will struggle to get out if put in a position where they can't breathe.

Dunno. Maybe I'm not a police investigator, but my first assumption would be homicide, not suicide.

You're basing this off of what?
Quote:
In our series, four persons were found with various weights attached to their bodies. One man (Case 41) was recovered from a lake with anchors loosely tied about his neck and ankles. Interestingly, he had recently told others exactly how he planned to drown himself. One male subject (Case 18), accompanied by a suicide note, was found in a pond with a bucket loosely tied to his wrists. He likely filled the bucket as he entered the water to facilitate the process. One man (Case 39) who was reportedly having marital problems and suicidal ideation was found in a stock pond with a concrete block loosely tied around his ankles. The remaining man (Case 50), reportedly depressed over the departure of his girlfriend, was found in a waste pit with a block loosely tied around his neck. Investigations in each of these cases revealed no evidence of foul play, and the autopsy and toxicology findings failed to demonstrate any explanation for death other than drowning.
Suicides by Drowning: A 20 Year Review

Four people with weights loosely tied around themselves who managed to not struggle out of it while killing themselves. Out of fifty-two reviewed cases, so it amounts to about 8% of the drowning suicide cases studied in the paper. Not the most common, but hardly rare or unusual.

I'm not saying it was suicide, I'm saying suicide would be a valid explanation to start with and rule out before determining homocide.
