It's probably considered one of the top 5 U.S. novels of the 20th century.

And the movie based on it is considered a "classic."

It's required reading in Middle School in the US. Well, in my County/State anyway.

You'd have a hard time making it all the way through High School without having read it at some point along the way. Probably a couple times...

So basically, most of us have read it. I re-read it once in a while just because its one of those book you should re-read once in a while. And I won't flip past the movie if I should stumble across it on the television. It really is a classis. Gregory Peck is perfect as Atticus Finch.

I remember having to read it in highschool, at the time only read about 50 pages in, but it was funny I got A's on all the quizes for it. Maybe when I get caught up on the books I have already stacked to read I will get a copy and try to rerad it this time.

Gotta read Lord of the Flies if you like English authors who like to write about naked little boys lol

Great Expectations is another one of the books that's probably mandatory in a lot of schools.

To Kill a Mocking Bird - read it in high school, loved it, still do.

Catcher in The Rye - ****** hated in high school, hate it now. Monotonous down on the world teenage angst book, bleh. On a positive note I got into the pants of the hottest girl in class because she thought I liked it and wanted to discuss it with me. Anything for a lay I guess.

Lord of the Flies - semi-***** me up in high school. I thank that book for opening my eyes to a wider world of filthy, homoerotic and sexualy abusive ideas. Still like it, although they should realy promote it as some kind of Tom Sawyer meets Deliverance that it is.
