Wanted to start a new boxing thread, can't seem to find the old one. 2 things

Who's gonna win Jones vs. Tarver this Sat.
I say Jones by KO in the 5th

and for the Ricky Hatton fan just a quote from USA today
[link=http://www.usatoday.com/sports/boxing/boxrank.htm]

"6. Sharmba Mitchell (54-3). Was ready to face British star Ricky Hatton until Hatton and overprotective promoter Frank Warren chickened out."

Jones, it'll either be quick (1st three rounds) or it'll go the distance, but Jones.

I agree Jones will win but not sure if it going to be by knock out, i think a easy point win is more likely or a late stoppage.

On the Hatton/Mitchell front.

The fight is only going to happen if Mitchell is willing to come to the UK. otherwise there is no money in it simple as that.
Mitchell won't fight in the UK so thats that.

Jay larkin predident of Showtime boxing wrote:
"We would prefer to see Hatton - Mitchell in the US but we do acknowledge and recognize that Ricky is a tremendous draw here in Manchester and the fight has to take place where the most amount of revenue can be generated.
But, it will be hard to replicate 18,000 people in the states right now for Ricky Hatton's debut fight in America. We recognize that the fight should be here and we're very happy to do it on the condition that the fight takes place here in Manchester during the prime time viewing hours in the US."

Money talks in boxing.

*edit just checked on Mitchells next fight, both he and Hatton will be fighting the No1 contenders for thier belts in thier next fights.

Jones all the way. Though Tarver talked a good fight on last sat' night on HBO after the Pacquaio fight.

Which was a damn good fight. I've never seen a 10-6 first round end up in a draw, lol.

Jones all the way, thought Tarver talked a good fight on HBO the other night after the Pacqaio fight.

Which was a damn good fight. I just can't see Jones losing... I suppose everybody's moment comes someday, but I don't think Tarver has the force needed to knock Jones out (and let's face it, anything less than a knockout and Jones will probably win.)

Jones is like a 4 to 1 favorite. Shouldn't be much of a fight.

Anyone see Paquiao/Marquez?

I usually don't miss the fights when I can catch them, but I think I did miss the Paquiao/Marquez fight.

I do have to say, that I favor Jones, not only because he's 'a bad man, Larry.' but because he's just one of the best fighters I've seen in a long, long time. Tarver is a pretty alright challenge, but I do have to say, hands down, Jones. I'm going to say seventh.

At least we were all wrong!
Jones seemed to me to be winning the rather boring fight, but truely 1 punch is all it takes.

Taver is obviously a good boxer, but was the one punch lucky or should we be calling him great now?

I can't wait for the Marquez/Pac-man rematch. That was the best fight I've seen since Gatti vs. Ward II.

I was going to predict that Tarver would win. Really, I was! Just never got around to it. But I did win $350 on the fight, so I can live without the credit of the prediction.
