Windows XP Gurus please helpFollow

I finnaly get my internet connection back up today, and im cruising along just fine untill i start trying to download the EQ patches. I haven't played or had internet in about 8 months so i had alot to download. I make it about an hour into the download when i get this Error i havn't seen before in my windows career. It basicaly tells me that the Windows Remote Procedure Call has terminated. The error comes with a 1 minute timer that shuts the computer down when it gets to zero. When i see it again, i will fill in the blanks.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

I think you have the sasser virus.

Sorry, when you see the error box, go to

Start>run

and then type: Shutdown -A

Then go to windows update. Then follow this

Wow, Thanks alot for the quick response. Tech support told me it would be 24 hours, and I get an answer within 5 minutes here. I am downloading the patch from microsoft as I type this and I will definitely take your advice on the getting all the updates and the help from your post.

No problem make sure you stay updated all the time, you will be constantly infected with viruses if you don't get all the security patches. Right click: My Computer>properties, go to the automatic updates tab and select to download updates and inform you when they are ready, this will keep you updated of all the security issues. For the first time, I recommend doing it maually, in IE go to Tools> Windows Update. Run it a few times, You will probably have about 19 patches the first time and them 3 or four the second time you visit, keep going back until the critical updates says zero. Good luck.

Was going to post the Tech Support email here, but it wouldn't do alot of good unless you had my service plan. If you have the same problem follow the above advice and you will be good to go.
