Magian elemental accuracy staves?Follow

#1 Jun 28 2012 at 10:10 AM Rating: Good
I was wondering what the general opinion on these are. I was considering doing earth and light for elegy/finale/lullaby. Are they worth the effort, or do the HQ staves suffice for most of you? Are there any others I should be considering? All thoughts welcome.

It really depends on how serious you are about the job. I've personally done the earth and light macc staves, and I've found that the most useful stats are the -12% recast. For stuff that requires me to be on crowd control duty I can essentially chain cast Horde II. Aside from that, against anything that resists Finale, you'll likely have floored macc and you won't use Lullaby for important things. Elegy is sort of the same way in that you won't resist much and if you do, just cast it again.

So no, at this time I can't really recommend them to anybody unless you're a perfectionist or if you're more about the -recast.

I'll second that one of the more noticeable effects of a series II staff is the -recast. Utsu timers, putting hastes up before a zerg, cursna, and stun also come to mind in this respect. Another consideration, should you complete enough staves to cover all the elements you'd forseeably cast, is that with 70 MAcc coming from your main slot, you can won't need to bring as many MAcc accessories along to get your MAcc to a comfortable level. I personally finished all 8 series II staves, and have since consolidated maybe 40 MAcc related accessories across a few mage jobs down to a more manageable number. I am more accurate than before, and take less inventory to do it!

I probably saved about as much inventory making MAcc staves as my horn come to think of it...

And I'm really not sure which would take more time to do.

I don't know about other servers, but if prices keep falling, it just may be the horn. Depends on how well you make money besides daily Dynamis, I suppose. If you're a career mage, doing both horn and MAcc staves really is an inventory saver, and you're better for both.

Too bad all the staves are the same model, I'd like an aura for each element. Expanding amination for MDMG, condensing animation for MAcc.

The toughest part of the decision for me is that I'm not sure how much inventory space I'd actually gain. I use the HQ elemental staves for my summoner as well, and doing those magian staves along with MAcc is adding inventory, not taking away from it. I never touch my white mage anymore, and my black mage wouldn't benefit from the staves I'd be doing. I'm either on bard or one of my melee jobs the majority of the time.

And yes, the horn is getting easier and easier to get. Which is nice, because it's been a dream of mine to own since the day I fell in love with bard, but at the same time, I'm looking at the empy harp fully upgraded to give an extra two songs, and that's hard to pass up.

If you use the harp to get your 3rd/4th song up, you're able to switch it out and maintain the buffs with other instruments (and I would imagine you're even able to apply different buffs if you wanted to) as long as you do not let any of them wear off.

Now THAT is interesting. I had no idea. Sounds like I'll be going for the horn after all. Thanks for the info Fyn.

I'm just gonna stick my neck out and ask: what are the magian elemental staves?

I was looking for it on the 'clopedia but not really finding the trials. I thought maybe they were trials for Apollo's Staff or something. It would be great if you guys can point me to the right direction. Thanks.

All the ones that say element affinity: magic accuracy. Keep in mind that the gold box +3 staves shown are 95 and still have 1 upgrade to go to 99.

And in case the significance of 6 affinity isn't immediately evident, http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Magic_Affinity .

Or to summarize, 6 elemental affinity is a 70 MAcc boost compared to an HQ staff's 30, or 35% damage boost compared to an HQ staff's 20%. Pretty huge gains per inventory slot considering how much (or how little, I suppose) stat gain a lot of other things that used to be in my inventory gave.

HQ ele staff = Affinity +2, so it's actually 30 acc and 15% power. But yeah
