Aside from Atmas (and yes, I still need to improve my -pdt atma set) - what kind of gear would folks recommend for -PDT for brd? Looking more for rare/ex drops etc that I can't just find by trolling the AH.

I actually really enjoyed pulling in Abyssea yesterday on brd, problem is, that if I got hit and lost my mazurka I was getting close to murdered by the time I got back to camp with a bunch of angry bluffalos.

Any recommended gear I can hunt down? I have a 94 (almost 95) bst so I can take on a fair number of NMs on my own.

Feel free to list items from events that I may or may not be able to achieve someday.... yes I know having good pulling atmas will kick **** over any gear but I am think of putting together a set I can use in other events etc.

Also dont forget the -pdt rings that come out of gold boxes in Abyssea-Konschtat. You can get up to -6 pdt on each ring (although I have only seen -5%), as well as -mdt rings and even a refresh hairpin. It may take 3-5 3 hour sessions though, but imo its worth it.

If you do this, got to flux 8 and kill tonberries for EXACTLY 128 azure and 255 amber (tonberries give double amber and azure). After that you can go to the mob of your choice and just mow through them for gold boxes.

Hopefully you have a job that can azure (NIN BLM SCH WHM BLU) or bring a friend who can :) OR just skip it entirely and open red boxes that give azure as you get them, just dont go above 128.

Why not above 128 azure?

Because Azure(128) is the threshold where you see the high-tier boxes (TEs etc.); any more than that just increases the rate at which they drop. If your goal is to farm gold boxes, any azure above the minimum required to maintain your Visitant is only diluting the droprate of gold boxes.

If you can't maintain positive visitant with that light configuration, it's best to reconsider your method of farming. I stayed in Konschtat for 3 days straight until i got my rings and both Hairpins by Whiskering tonberries with those levels of lights.. I think I had close to 30 hours of visitant built at one point.

MACC is a joke, any job with access to mage gear can hit close the MACC cap on legion mobs, which is why my BRD/RDM can land slow/para/blind despite having only 150 skill (from /RDM.)

Wouldn't whisker burning give you azure light?

Hmmm I have never tried that before. Do you still get boxes to drop on mobs you CFH on?

You don't, so you lose 1 mob per pull doing it; as long as you're pulling at least 8 mobs at a time, you will see more gold chests than you would not CFHing and capping azure. Most zones you can pull twice that number pretty easily at one of the good camps, so it's even less of an issue.

I found tonberries (the THFs, not the BLMs) to be the best option in Konschtat; there's only 10, but they aggro/link by sight and pop in a small area, making it very fast once you get the hang of it. One wave of kills every 3-4 minutes should be your goal. Just make sure you aggro them to pull, or if you have to tag one from a distance, just make it that one, as CFHing will tag all the mobs you've touched (in the case of AoEs, only the targeted mob counts, not all the rest that get hit), not just the one you have claimed at the moment.
