Some people are. I don't think any of them are career-BRDs-only.

God I hope he is...I was really surprised to see Minne V as something he'd be excited about...and worried.

Let's review.

Requiem VII: Useless in most endgame (barring salvage). Worthwhile mobs are usually immune to it. Pretty lame unless SV'd, and even then.
Army's Paeon VI: Great. Another tier. Whoo. Rarely used. (Good bards know when and where. If you don't know, don't use it.)
Knight's Minne V: HAH. Ahahahahaha. Hah. You mean your tanks aren't screaming for marches?

---

Your career bards are going to be excited if and only if one of the following occurs:
New tiers of essential songs (Ballad, March, Minuet, Madrigal).
New augmentable instruments that have bonuses to more than one song, and/or skill bonuses attached to existing instruments.
New songs, like a party buff that increases magic acc/atk (girl can dream).

Edit: SE sez BRD gets nothing for five levels of grind. Except maybe increased skill levels and new uber-march tiers for those that have the merits/gear! Yay.

I think we're getting Requiem 7 only to keep Requiem as the spell with the highest number of available tiers.

(The patch is also releasing Cure 6 to tie with our current 6 tiers of Requiem)

If I could get anything higher than Requiem 2 to land regularly, I might be more excited about Requiem 7.

Now . . . if Requiem 7 is the strength of 6, but with a +20% MACC bonus, then I might actually bother getting it.

Requiem's accuracy isn't even bad; it's just that almost anything that's a NM is given immunity to it for some god-awful reason. If it's not immunity, it comes damn near close.

God-awful reason because many of these same NMs do not carry Poison immunity, which is essentially the same thing.

this was a well-constructed post and topic. 8/10. lol those 3 songs. SE should have put the cherry on top with another useless scop's operetta tier or something.

I really would have liked to see a TP Regain song added to bard. At least Ballad 3 would have been nice. And wtf is up with Requiem? All other requiem songs have been on the 7's but we get this one at 76? Not sure why we get crit defense bonus either, any bard that takes enough hits to seriously worry about crits is doing something wrong. Bard hasn't seen much since Pianissimo that is worthwhile. Kinda tough to keep watching Dancer get all these great things...

Edit: We have a lot of songs like Operetta and Pastoral, why not something for paralyze?

So I didn't see anything yet, but was there any mention of expansion of the Magian system to include Gjallarhorn or Aegis?

Yea this wasn't a great update for BRD (not even any good equipment) but I'm ok with it only because it seems on par for what Lv.75-80 should hold. 85-90 we should see a new Minuet and Madrigal, and maybe if we're lucky sometime in our 90s Massacre Elegy and a new March.

Here's a few gems I saw. Anyone else see anything decent for BRD? I know I'm on the over-geared side of BRD, but I've got my eye on these...

Aoido's Belt 80 Waist DEF: 6 Song Spellcasting Time -3%
Aristo Belt 80 Waist DEF: 5 CHR+8 Enmity-1
Meridian Ring 80 Ring HP+90 Dark-20 (+HP to trigger Minstrel Latent)
Mesmeric Cape 79 Back DEF:8 CHR+8 MACC+4
Succor Ring 75 Ring MP+30 DMG Taken -3% (Idle -DMG setup)
Vivid Strap 75 Sub Enhances "Fast Cast" Effect

Teal Pigaches 78 Feet DEF: 16 HP+8 MND+6 CHR+6 Enmity-4 Set: Enhances "Fast Cast" Effect
(Or alternately: Shadow/Valkyrie Clogs. Might be easier to obtain with new level cap? I can only hope...)

Mesmeric Cape makes me /cheer but everything else makes my inventory cry. Anyone remember Mazurka tanking? I feel like SE was thinking this.

"Oh, let's let those brd's tank with Mazurka again. Minne V and Crit defense bonus for u!"

Little did they know that 5+ years ago they nerfed it. :)

You already get the strongest slow (usable by players) in the game for free. RDMs pay merits for a version that costs MP, needs MND to be fully potent, and *still* isn't as strong even when its potency is maxed.

You are not about to get one twice as strong as that. If you do, I'll eat my chapeau.

With others getting more +movement gear and abilities (Bolter's Roll), it would have been nice to see them either alter current songs or give us a new mazurka that works in dungeons.

The fact Mazurka doesn't work in dungeons never made much sense to me, and now that they've gone ahead and created Bolter's Roll (which does work in dungeons) tells me that it doesn't make much sense to SE either.

Honestly, if they had adjusted Mazurka to work in dungeons, it would have made for a better BRD update than what they got in this patch...
