Singing/Wind/String capped infoFollow

I have a question concerning keeping your singing/wind/string skills capped.

Now, we all know that its pretty easy to keep singing/wind skills capped so long as you don't fall victim to the Level Sync curse. But a lot of us run into issues with String... because its just not used as much.

I read somewhere that to get/keep your string skill capped, go to sea (must have sea access) and keep casting theronies on the "pink dildos" ? Now i'm not exactly sure wtf that means in the first place... but why would you have to do that?

If you ever need to cap your singing/wind/strings... couldn't you just find a nice remote place and keep singing etudes on yourself and switch out wind/string instruments?

Am I missing something here? Thanks for the help!

They are great for skill ups because it is a high level mob that does not attack you as long as you do not damage it. So you can spam fast debuffs on it threnody, elegy, lullaby ect. You will claim the mob but it wont hit you. Which is awesome because you don't need a healer to cure you. You can do this 100% solo.

You are right that you can sing etudes on yourself to skill up but you will find it is much slower.

Also I get the feeling you do not have sea yet. What might work better for you then is besieged. Find a mob that 4-5 people are already fighting and use that as a target. You just have to wait for besieged start though.

I kept mine capped as I leveled by just running a tad further and using a Harp for Ballads. Never needed anything else to stay in the blue all the way around before I dinged as I went up through the ranks.

I went the Besieged way. Keep in mind that spamming stuff only works (if I remember correctly, been a while) if you can land it. Maybe I'm wrong however, and it's only Singing skil that requires landing. Nonetheless, be careful at Besieged spamming Threnodies, you pull hate after a bit and get smacked. Another good technique is sleep some mobs with wind, and while asleep use Threnodies. You can choose different target levels for this to ensure you can land most of them. Keep a rotation on the elemental debuff effects so you can land the next one reliably. Ele staves work wonders, you will probably have Earth staff by now, so start with Thunder Threnody.

well Pahn, that works fine for a merit party only BRD. However, any end game serious BRD has good uses for a Harp.

BLM party BRD: Hitting everyone with Ballads when often they are scattered.
Hitting Paeons on everyone at max strength.
BLU: Hitting them with Minne for Cannonball. (Harp +1 for more DEF, more rare instance)

These are the three main reasons for me to use Harp. While true you don't have to be in the parties listed for these reasons to matter as much, it's just another way to make one BRD overall more useful than another.

Edit: Man I can't believe I forgot...

Also, for a larger AoE Horde Lullaby with Nursemaids Harp. Mainly useful in Einherjar, for me anyhow.

IIRC, Minuet is better than Minne for Cannonball.

@Lv50+ macro in a harp to Pianissimo Ballads onto the mage.

Minuet has exactly 0 effect on Blue Magic, so yes, this is incorrect. Minnes > Etudes, generally, as well, in terms of both ease of use and actual damage output.
