Bard level 1-75 in a week?Follow

#1 Jan 07 2009 at 11:41 PM Rating: Good
I have some vacation time coming up and was thinking of using some of it to level bard to 75. I mostly want to have BRD at 75 for merits and endgame (note, I am going to take the job seriously!) I already have WHM and NIN at 37 so I won't need to level any subs. I also have DRK and PUP at 75 so I won't need to do any limit break quests and could solo some of my AF quests. I also could gather around a 800k (or more) gil for gear if I sold a couple things from my DRK so I wouldn't have to farm.

Anyhoo, I thought it might be a fun challenge to try and level Bard from 1-75 in a week. Do you think it could be done? Thanks!

Are you doing this with a static group?

If not, I doubt it.
You'd have to land some really nice pugs on the way up to 75 for it to be done in a week.

Might have to hold off on meriting when you do hit 75, trying to pull with under-leveling singing and string skill = death.

But good luck^^

This was before level-sync but I once looked for party on bard for 7 days straight around level 43.

Its possible with a static, I leveled from 65 to 75+merits in 3 days before they changed the EXP formulas.

You will be hurting tho, napping for an hour every 8-9 hours really killed me and I still wonder what happened to the two days after my exp binge.

You would need to average 121k xp a day. Thats an average ~5k/hr per 24.
As it's impossible to party for 24 hours straight you could realistically break that down to say ~14 hours a day at an average of ~@8.6k/hr.

At lower levels this is probably going to be quite difficult without outside support but TBH, post 45 any less than this is pretty much sub-par for a Bard party. 55+ You should easily be topping 12~15k/hr and moving to imps should provide closer to 18k/hr if your lucky.

By the early 70s you should prolly be looking at meripos at which point 20k/hr+ is pretty much standard. (or should be)

The problem now is that no party will last 14 hours. There will be downtime between parties and you would have to skip your AF, of which legs and hands are really pretty sweet. Also your skills will likely not be capped.

A day by day break down based on the 121k a day average would be as follows:
Day 1: ~1-34
Day 2: ~34-50
Day 3: ~50-59
Day 4: ~59-65
Day 5: ~65-69
Day 6: ~69-72
Day 7: ~72-75

Realistically you could spread 1-50 over 3 days and 50-75 in 4 due to the increased xp rate at those lvls.

Of all the jobs to do 1~75 in a week Bard is without doubt the most likely capable of pulling it off, but would you really want to? You would prolly despise the job by the time you'd finished it.

Honestly I would focus on getting it to 65 so that you can do most events and then do the rest later.

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone! I knew that it wouldn't be easy but after bimrog broke it all down for me and Asmoranomar's xp binge story, I'm starting to have some second thoughts lol :S Anyhoo, I think I'm going to at least see how far I can get in a week. When it is all over I will write another reply and post my progress for each day (just for fun :P)

Warning: this may be a bit of a mean sounding post, but it isn't meant to be mean.

Leveling bard in a week, while entirely possible, would probably ensure you'd be maybe the least knowledgeable bard you could be. It may seem like the easiest job in the world, but it isn't and there is a lot you learn as you come up about how to play it and how to maximize your performance in parties. Things you might not learn if you are basically just trying to **** as much xp as possible in as short an amount of time as possible. Just food for thought.

I once partied for 16 hours straight.... I was at the party at the start. Someone left. We got a replace. Someone else left. Got a replace. Continued on for hours and hours. At the end of the party for me when I personally left I was actually being replaced myself. I was the last remiaining original member of the party after 16 hours and then the party still continued.

I uno how much longer the PT went on for.. but may have gone to the 24 hour mark :P

Made a lot of exp that day in bibiki :o

Have you not seen most of the BRD75's? Most people have no clue how to play this job, or what / when to wear beyond the elementary level.

I once replaced the replacement for my replacement... The leader was the same person, and he said they'd been going the same time... Since it was a sync party and I was well above the level, it worked out for me. Was weird, though.

don't forget to add the empress band, you could realistically use that at least 10x so that's a free 10k exp to knock off the average. not much, but it all helps.

If you had a set pt including a cor and some form of haste, it'd be quite doable if you all had 12-14 hrs to party a day.

With a good setup you can start breaking 8-10k/hr before 50 with a cor/brd/haste backline.

Its very possible with level sync + PL.

And actually, its very easy with the new SMN PTs (you can average 30k/h or more from level 20 and up).

Could you provide some proof of this claim? I can't even think of a camp at that lvl with enough mobs with a fast enough repop to provide this kind of xp.

If you use expwatch it will burst to 30k/hr because you just killed a crapton of mobs with about half a sec between them. So if you can continue killing mobs every .5 sec you will keep the exp it reads/Attain higher exp. But... good luck doing that.

I once did a 3-day bard binge. I forget how far I got, but it was a lot of xp. After that I couldn't get the stupid wind instrument tune out of my head. It was all I heard when I tried to sleep. I think I may have even made a post saying that each song really should have it's own audio effect, just to maintain sanity. XP binges are the devil.

It is very possible. Level sync to level 20, for example, with 3 SMN, a COR, and 2 of whatever else you want.

Corsair's Roll.

Have a high level person gather up a horde of mobs from the zone and bring them to the party.

The Summoners all Astral Flow -> Instant win.

A friend of mine does this quite often and I believe the most he got at once was 35k. It's a ridiculously long instant chain.

Also, on Bismarck, Minidragon (who has like... six relics now...?) is notorious for doing this for his linkshell. They're always shouting for a wild card 2 hour reset in white gate with a 30k gil reward if you reset the abilities.

Best case would be to time an Emperor Band (and the playtime) right, to be able to use it 6 or 7 times, netting you a bonus of approx. 12-14k.

- Don't use or charge your ring for one tally.
- Start Thursday AM (1), Thursday PM(2), Friday afternoon (3) [charge] Friday Evening (4), Saturday noon (5), Sunday AM [before tally)(6) | recharge after tally | Sunday AM(7), Sunday PM (8), Monday noon afternoon (9).

9 charges is worth 18k xp (or 54k total). You could even start Wednesday night to give yourself a little buffer on the Sunday morning tally, depending on where you live. Remember, you can recharge an empty ring, and use it right away, but you can only charge once per conquest.

Implies what 100+ mobs at once? surely thats a rule breach. Somebody must have a screenshot of such an epic murder fest ^^

Logic behind this is sound no doubt. Isn't far from Thundaga fests on roaches BLM perform at 75.
However, it would be expensive and need outside support/planning. The pulling of all the mobs would prolly take 20mins on its own, then theres the 2-hour wait. (or indefinite wait from a reset shout/travel time) Basically even if you did hit 35k in one hit, realistically it wouldn't average this high per hour, nor is it "very easy".

If it was "very easy" and not a rule breach, every gilseller would do 1-75 in under 24 hours.

Um no, because RMT don't have SMN or COR unlocked. They stick with the original 6 jobs only these days-- don't have to waste time questing before they get banned.

So... I just took bard from 1 to 23 in about a week (just hit 23 this morning). IMO, to really do the job right and enjoy what you do, you can NOT go to 75 in a week. I mean, you'll have to buy lots of expensive things from AH which could be quested, like ballad scrolls, etc. And what if they weren't available on AH when you need it? Keep PTing while not having all your important songs?

I would say being 25+ and not having mage's ballad 1 is a very bad bard and not doing justice to the job. Take your time and enjoy the job. As other have mentioned, it can burn you out. Plus, do the research and learn how to do the job well. Brd is not just about running between DDs and the mages and singing their songs.

Honestly, I've played a BUNCH of other jobs and nothing is quite like Brd. I'm still trying to figure out what good my monster signa is, lol.

A friend of mine has taken summoner well into the 50's with this from the teen levels in a fairly short amount of time. It really isn't that difficult if you have a high level friend willing to gather mobs for everyone.

And Minidragon leveled the rest of his jobs to 75 this way, very quickly. Paying for 2 hour resets in aht urgan and all.

This is something that always existed, just level sync makes it much much easier to do.

Congratulations!

It took me 4 weeks 2 days to get 1-75. I played a LOT, but didn't sacrifice my life/sanity/wife/loved ones/children (delete as appropriate) to get there. As quoted above the only reason it wasn't 2 weeks was crappy parties, and sometimes giving up lfp or forming a party cause there weren't enough people to level sync (appropriately (ugh lvl 51-54))
