I can't get the quest. Is this fame related?

I talked to Mertaire and Bki Tbujhja and they mentioned the Runes, but when I go to the Song Runes, no cutscene.

I did this years ago with a different character, am I doing something wrong?

Advance job quests have no fame or prerequisates except that you have one of the main 6 jobs at level 30.

Are you just talking to the song runes? I believe at the first one you have to trade a sheet of parchment to it.
