Finally out of Qufim on my taru bard.

Dinged 23, 24, 25, 26

Tried out pulling some mandies. Was doing good except the vokers in my party were slow and I ended up dying after pulling from half way across the zone. So I let the thief pull and he promptly died from a gobby.

Time to farm some gil for Monster Signa.

Got M.Silverpiece drop from Dynamis-Qufim (and Sliver!) ^^

Promptly sold it and bought an Apollo's Staff! :D
Still lacking Terra's, but I couldn't afford both. I'll get it eventually.
(Also got some nice toys for my 48Thf to ding into, Corsair's Knife and Vclaw (signed SH prs :o) so a good day!)

Gonna grab me a chanter's staff for buffs too.

Some bad things tho, I had a random urge to plat rng and dumped my 3 spare merits into Flashy Shot D: sure it's fun, but it should have really gone into Singing/Wind D: Oh, and a quick 0/3 on Enlili's Brais :x

Ding 70.

Now it's time to fight Maat. I have all my potions and items, all I really need to do is finish skilling up sword. It's 173 right now.

Maat down!

Hit 71, and put on my first piece of relic. That's a nice feeling.

Then at 72 I get a total outfit overhaul -- full yigit go go!

Although, if I'm /NIN, I'll probably swap back in relic feet since, well, no need for the refresh with no MP and they're better shoes.

Relic feet..? They're pretty useless actually. Sha'ir feet are better, even /NIN, and that's saying something because I would never recommend sha'ir feet. :P

Fast Cast +1 is still better than String Skill +3 in majority of situations. How often do you even use harp?

My preference: Sha'ir Crackows/Rostrum Pumps > Goliard Clogs

I will admit, when I first got my bard slippers (my first piece of relic) I was like zomg, lookie! I haz relic, I am uber! then I came to realize what a piece of crap they are.

If it wasn't for the fact I need them to put my relic set into storage, I'd have tossed them already.

And to make this worthy of posting in this thread to stay on topic:

Ding 31 (a while ago)...

Yeah, Artifact/Relic BRD boots are lackluster all together. I only used my AF boots once, during the Maat fight.

I currently use the Sha'ir boots and probably will for a long time.

I'm using Goliard Clogs for debuffing, and Rostrums for buffing. If I ever get Oracle's Pigaches in this lifetime that'll change, but for now it works.

Relic feet are for a string build or if you're too poor to bother with anything else. :x Other than that, they're pretty much crappy.

Not to crush your victory (trust me I went thru this as well, so disappointing), but...aside from being free, HS is a terrible dagger to melee with.

Most other higher level daggers will easily match or outparse HS and any well geared THF will tell you to sell it and use the gil to buy a better one.

I sold mine, but you might as well play with yours for a while before tossing it - at the very least its fun to see some **** 5xCrit Eviserations. I just wish it was better...

For a bard who doesn't really melee, nothing really wrong with just having Heart Snatcher.

For Thief who is expected to produce high numbers, then yes, it is an loldagger. But no sense in a bard laying down 2mil for a blau dolch when a heartsnatcher will kill things too.

I have both Heart Snatcher and Blau, and both 75 thief and bard, and I never use my heart snatcher. I had Heart Snatcher first and was unlocking it for my bard, just because it has a higher latent base damage then other daggers bard can use, but once I got my blau on Thief, I never touched it again.

Unless you're putting together some leet bard melee gear setup, no real reason to invest in a good quality dagger. To the extreme its like saying, I want a mandau for my bard instead of a gjallarhorn. Save your gil for something bardly :D

True - If your running around as a DD BRD, you can pretty much play however you want since the whole things is a bit 'lol' anyways.

But, I never said to drop 2 mil on a Blau either. Behemoth Knife +1 and Jambiya parse better than HS and (depending on server) is pretty cheep. If you were a THF, you could sell HS and buy Magnet Knife and still have some gil left over.

I wasn't trying to slam him on the post. I was informing him that I did the exact same thing (unlocked HS) before I got lol'ed by a few THFs in my LS. The BRD forums isn't an ideal place to look up info on decent melee builds, and it never dawned on me to look in the THF forums for answers. Whether he seriously wants to build a DD BRD build or not, doesn't change the fact that HS is a poor latent weapon (unlike the other latent weapons). I also didn't want him to be the suprise target of an 'lolHS' event like I was.

At the very least, he knows now.

@7K to 75 T_T A party camped over us on birds last night when we were down to five, so we called it even though I'm so close I can taste it.

I'm meriting the very second I get on tonight.

Waiting for me are:
- Kirin's Osode
- Bard Cannions
- Loquacious Earring
- Rostrum Pumps

My bard gear will be nowhere near complete, but I'm 1/3 of the way to an Omega's Ring already with Einherjar, and expect to have it within the next two months. As soon as I win my Novio in my endgame shell (I'm 2nd in line atm), I'll put my name in for a Manteel ^^ We've gotten three cloths from Bahamut V2 now.

Pretty much the only other thing I need is an upgraded neckpiece, so I suppose it's time to start saving for some torques.

I wear Suzaku's Sune-Ate along with Byakko's Haidate in merits rather than grabbing AF out of storage. It's not worth lugging around full time debuffing and buffing gear for me, since I mostly break out BRD for merits and not anything harder than that. Having sub-par gear in certain slots has nothing to do with being poor for some players.

It's because it's BRD and they'll be landing buffs on anything with pretty much just Terra's/Apollo's and decent +skill setup or forced to sub /BLM in which case it only makes sense to load up on the +CHR for Elemental Seal.

As long as they're not trying to say relic (or Suzaku's Sune-Ate, in my case) is a good piece of gear, does it really matter what they're wearing?

There's no reason not to wear something useful in a slot where every other option sucks. Even Dance Shoes would be better.

I do not promote or encourage the mindset of "well, all I do is merit on BRD, so it doesn't really matter what I wear." Yes, it does. For every well or decently-equipped BRD out there, there are 23987098 gimp ones who "only use it to merit."

It should probably be said that I absolutely hate when people level BRD just to merit and nothing else. Especially like the guy in my LS who hates the job, but levelled it just so he can merit... -.-

This is too true. And to add insult to injury, include all the other relic BRDs out there that have crap-for-gear. There are so many career-BRD's out there that deserve better, but the only ones who are ever noticed are the ones with g.horn.

Yes, we love our BRD's that can give extra ticks on ballads but not able to reliably sleep colibri during merits... /sarcasm

Swan Bilbo: O

I got a tip from some LS members that Cwn Cyrff was up, and so we headed out there after Nyzul Isle on Sunday.

My BRD almost never melees, but this sword is just beautiful.

Just got a Vermilion Cloak. Was having it synthed by a friend and he blew up 2 D.cloths the first try; ; The 2nd he didn't blow any up :)

Big accomplishment for me. I've always wanted a Vcloak for my BRD.

Coiled Yarn get.

Finally.

Seriously, had Brown Doeskin taking up inventory space for about 3 months now!

Only **** thing is, I'm finally 2/2, but have to wait a week for them as I'm upgrading Thief hands this weekend! Nuts.
