I don't have many posts, actually could of swore I had a few from a few years aog, but I have some input to the story. Reading this post reminded me of when I tried this about a year ago. I found it works well if you are at Colibri camp with 2x BRD and a handful of DRG/mage. While it may not be the ideal setup, 3x DRG can heal any member back to full HP anytime a member drops below half for as little as 5mp per DRG (/blu). I haven't tried a full party of DRG, but I do remember getting 14K/hr or so with 3xDRG BRD, and having fun while doing so. Since you can roam around the area and mob or MP depletion isn't as much of a problem, you don't have to worry as much about stacking the pulls. IIRC my Eviscerations were meager, around 300-500 with Behe/Joy, mediocre gear, min/mad, and sushi (I think it was sushi). I'm sure most BRD nowadays could blow that out of the water, and with Pianissimo the opportunity for more DD is greater if you had a mage in your party.

Would a 2x BRD 4x w/e party do better with stacking pulls and focusing on our real job of enhancing other members? Most likely. If properly equipped (much better than I was), can this be an efficient way of having a BRD who is the march/ballad wh*re contribute some worthwhile damage? I'd like to think so. Is this a fun setup that breaks the monotony of BRD meritting? I'd say hell yes!

P.S.- If you are on Caitsith or any other server that has a Mandau BRD (Cluh), you'd be pleasantly surprised to see the potential in that, but that's kind of extremis :-P

I agree, I wouldn't try to be a DD either because BRD wasn't made to "DD". That shouldn't mean we can't contribute to the party by throwing some damage on it. I'm not even saying melee every mob in a merit party because some mobs you just don't wanna feed more TP than you have to, or that it would be efficient in every case. I'm just saying there's some days where I'd rather do something more than hit my 4 song macro's once every 2 minutes.

A good rdm can handle all the healing with 2 ballads in a colibri camp, and with /dnc melee's, /whm is getting to be something not as efficient. 800-1K or so damage per fight (daggers or Joytoy) on a bird with maybe 6-8K HP just makes me feel better about my role in the party.

You know why a lot of people don't like the idea of BRD, but won't say it because of the impact on their EXP pocketbook? It's not because of the insane # of invites we get. Let's face it, if you're not pulling you are getting a lot of exp for not a lot of work. I'm just saying there's an alternative that can let you have a little fun. If that earns me an insta-boot, it's probably from a person I wouldn't wanna party with anyway.

Edit: Decided paragraphs were ftw when it comes to read-ability

BRD's base Dagger skill is two hundred and forty. Two hundred plus forty ones. And that's terrible.

I'll bite for the necro.

I was meleeing BRD/DNC in my last merit pt. Chain 100 > 5 min break > chain 150 on birds.

Setup was brd/dnc dnc/nin cor/nin melee x3. I wasn't going to ballad just me. COR is a good puller on birds. No elegy, just hack fest. I'm sure that slug > fast blade, but we were pulling all the birds arounds and sucking off the bottom some.

Joyeuse is pretty solid. Hitting for 50 with 90 crits eating sushi in full haste.

Try it, you might like it.
