Bards use hand to hand when wielding an instrument correct?

So... how would a Bard/Monk fare?

I was wondering the same thing... Getting to where I need to pick my secondary skill, thinking about taking on bard. Anyone have any advice? Pros/cons?

Yeah is there anyone that thinks this is off the deep end? I have a 20 lvl monk and itching to get a sub. I really am leaning toward Bard as well. Warrior is not that thrilling when you already play a melee char. So will Bard work out?

Bard/monk

Bard monk is and isn't effective. The idea behind a bard is that of a support character, so in all actuality your not going to be attacking all that much, but you do get the HP bonus's which make the bard that much more effective. The bard as primary makes you a class that will be consistently running from the front of the group to the back of the group. Casting army of peaon on the warriors and some debuff song on the creature, then running back and casting mages ballad on the mages in the back then some other enhancement song, then when that is all done u might have enough time to run back up to the front to help attack the creature. but the monk gives you lots lots more hit points and also has some evasion bonus's through the ability Evasion. so the bard monk does work, but really the only way it's helping you out is by allowing the addition of hit points and that making you less likely to die in battle. Like i said your attacking probably won't happen nearly as often as you would think.

Bards are not a solo'n class. But that doesn't mean they can't solo. They are Equal to that of a Redmage, they don't use hand to hand, but like any class can they are allowed to use hand to hand, but they are allowed swords, daggers, armor, etc... and the buffing songs really work best in a group, your going to make much better experience form a group than you would solo..really a bard's built for survivability not solo ability.
