Here is the thing. I'm torn between a paly/war (I've always been a tank and after EQOA the no repair cost is even more enticing) and a bard/? (WMG is probably best but..) Here is the thing... If I go tank I've started a monk gona switch to war/monk till I get my war lev to 30 and then go to the paly main.
Is the only way to start the bard out right to start getting my WMG level up? if so..it would seem I'd have to start getting another mage sub up to level my mage sub (as anything/bard stinks).

Ok I can honestly say that I did not understand anything you said there...........
Excatly what do you wanna do? you want a pal/war? then why are you talking about making a monk? just have a war as main until you reach lvl 30 (or whenever you can have a sub class) and then switch to pal main and war secondary.
And why are you talking about WHM? if you wand a good sub for bard, it ant WHM.

Err I started with a monk. before I knew anythign about what combos where good...

BTW actually..probably 90% of the bards you see out there are Bard/WHM. Bards are a pure support job and WHM's make the best complement to this
Basically what iah ve come to usederstand is that the real way to go is to make a tank War/monk at 18 and level that to 30...then do the paly quest. Level the tank as far as it will go and start over. Bards in this game just aren't melees.
