Since the job forums have been pretty inactive for awhile, I thought I'd start a new topic in each devoted to things you'd like or wish that Square Enix would do with each job. They can be legitimate things you'd like to see, or they could be absurd, and, while they can be, they don't have to be any serious or groundbreaking changes you think each job needs, just something you think would improve them a bit in some form. Just try to keep the topic clean and drama free (emphasis on try). Just have some fun with this and let your ideas soar.
Why don't we have a scorpion jug pet yet? I know that nowadays Beastmasters don't use anything but Yuly or Falcorr, but I see a scorpion being a decent powerhouse as far as a legitimate damage dealer. Given the vast array of TP moves they have, it could have access to Attack boosts, Evasion boosts, not to mention Death Scissors. I think given the recent lack of decent jug pets they've been getting, having a scorpion would make for a nice pet to use when Tresure Hunter isn't an issue.

Jug pets to stay when zoning.
Attack traits native to the job.
To say that you're doing pretty well is just to say that it's the best-looking puppy in a pretty ugly litter

It's absurd that an AoE that hits me for 700 hits the damned monster next to me for 1100 just because it doesn't get shell. Or that my pet gets weaker and weaker as my party gets better in general.
At the very least change Beast Healer merits from the worthless 1 hp/tick extra regen on a 5,000 hp pet, to the much more useful "Copies one buff the master has over to the pet per merit" like Empathy.

Wow I pretty much agree with everything said so far. I think at least some buffs hitting pets would be very fair (even if it was only samba effects like used to happen it would be something)

-I'd really like us to get native dual wield. It's really crummy that we have to sub to get DW - it effectively limits us to /dnc or /nin only

Overall, I want tanking to matter again and I want BST to be a tank. I think that tank is the most realistic role for BST in a group. If we get too much boost in our DD skills we'd be broken on all content, so I can understand why SE would like to limit us in that department, but as it is we have no real role in a regular group. There is no endgame where BST is wanted/useful.
What we need for that to happen is an overall fix of enemity issues and tanking in general. It's my hope that that is coming with the new Runefencer job - it would be crazy for SE to release a new job and have it suck outta the box - they HAVE to want to make money and that is not the way to do it.
If BST got access to some mean shields with good bonuses for our pets (like REALLY GOOD - -mdt, +DA, +haste etc) and a couple more JA aimed at establishing hate and funnelling it to our pets, it would be awesome

Whan I mean by this is, when warping out of abyssea, I see all my abyssea buffs wear 'before' the warp completes, so clearly they have something in place to detect zoning and perform an action just before actually zoning the character.
So if they can't implement a "keep the pet when zoning" feature, it'd be nice to see a "redeem the jug back into your inventory just-before zoning" feature. Things like void nms are frustrating when you have to call a pet, kill something, zone and lose that pet permanently / repeat 70 times.

Since this is total blue-skying I was thinking it would be really neat if we had a job ability that allowed us to capture a charmable wild mob inside a jug and use it like a normal jugpet (maybe with a lower duration than our current end-game pets) - this would help us with the fun of jug variety
It would be especially cool if they were uncapped, so we could charm whatever mob we wanted for it, so if we wanted a purple leech or a red bat or w/e just for the fun of it, we could. The name of the mob could be "tamed X" (X being the mob's regular name)
Of course I can't see them ever doing this since they would inevitably want to nerf/remove the better JA that those pets had so it would involve too much work, and spagetti code etc, but still, it would be neat, and a throwback to the original (?) FFV BST, so cool in that nostalgia factor kind of way
Heck even if they made it more like the FFV bst ability (you release it and it does one big attack - or for our purposes maybe it could be a buff or a debuff) it would be neat - though if they did it that way I'd like for the jug to have charges and maybe be able to have more than 1 (red jug, blue jug, yellow jug? lol) because it would be super annoying to have to travel to capture a pet just for 1 time use only (if it was 1 time only it would have to be good... but then again if it was really good people would expect you to have it at all times... lol)

Beast master should be given traits to assist the party, but should be simple and feel like its a nature type. Ideas include sharing killer effects, Regen, or regain.
Nest lvl 10 - gives a special regain AoE 2/tick regain/Regen, effects all pets within area of effect. Pets and Wyvern's only.
Death stare lvl 60 - immobilizes target with terror. 5 minute recast. (short duration)
Howl - disperses tp from pet to party members within area of effect. (good usage if pet is about to die)
Allow Reward to be used on other party members pets, Wyvern's. Animals. Not avatars, or automatons, or beastmen. Also let it extend charm duration when used by a set amount.

Amen, brother. A-fecking-men. I enjoy being an unstoppable killing machine with my jug pet at my side, but damnit, I miss the pet-swapping, charm-time watching, failed charm panic-inducing action that I used to get when I used to get my BST on. I probably can't even BST like I used to anymore... the thought makes me sad =( I may build an updated charm set... just in case, y'know?
