Had a lengthy Abyssea party a while back and went from 76 - 88 and it was a hell of an eye opener. My damage was terrible (I think, was eyeballing) and it's probably because I'm still using Maneater/(something, forgot). Is there something I can use whilst I do my magian Axes that's half decent? I got an Artio's Axe from Melo Melo yesterday by chance, would that be any good?
Also, do we still Dual Wield or have we gone back to 1H + shield for Fencer? I assume the former but I'm still very out of touch.

Charmer's Merlin is a decent axe to use outside of the magian axes

dual wield is the way to go, if you are focusing on max melee.
Artio's is a fine option if you don't have any magian axes yet. Frankly, there are not many axes between level 75 and 90 that are not magian axes. Glyph axe is an easy one to get early one, Artio's works. Charmer's Merlin is a great one to get, and might not be hard if you can slip into one of the groups spamming Dragua.
you might grab some augmented doom tabar from chests in grauberg also. if you just want a decent, quick to get filler piece.

If you have been doing Dominion Ops, the Augmented weapons you can buy from the Dominion Tacticians can make fairly decent place holders until you start finishing off your magians. And there is almost no effort involved in obtaining them of you regularily XP there.
The weapons cost 2500 Dominion Notes, and come with a random selection of augments (I believe the Dominion Note weapons can recieve better quality augments than the Gold Chest equivalents, well according to the augment tables on wiki that is). The BST option comes from the Dom.Tacticion in Aby.Grauberg:

DMG: 51 Delay: 288 DEX+3 AGI+3
Lv. 77 WAR / DRK / BST
Possible Augments:
■DMG+4~12
■Ice -3~ -7
■Wind +3~7
■STR+3~8
■Resist Slow+3~6

The weapons are cheap enough that you can usually buy them in bulk, to ensure you get a few decent ones, and then just keep the best one or two. They also NPC for a decent amount (around 7k), so any weapons you dont want to keep can be sold off for a tidy little sum (In fact some people make a living just buying and NPC'ing Dom weapons).
Obviously there is a certain degree of luck involved, and some of the augments are pretty meh, but the damage+ augments are pretty common and you can potentially pick up a 55-63 base damage axe fairly quickly, which considering you can use it as low as level 77 isnt to shoddy.

Tonatiuh Axe is DMG: 68 Subtle Blow+5 Latent : 79 which is 11 higher then Farsha. Latent is moonphase something to consider if you can afford it. In terms of damage for axe, most bsts -PDT or -AGI magian axe's and those are good enough as your jugpet can dish out an insane amount of DOT in abyssea.

uhmmm.... not quite.
79 damage is only 5 higher than farsha
Farsha (90) has damage 74
Guttler (90) damage 76
Aymur (90) damage 77
Also, when considering Delay, the Tonatiuh axe only beats Aymur for dps.
Tonatiuh IS the highest base damage weapon at present (I'm pretty sure the upcomming update will change this) However it doesn't even out dps the top 3 without considering special traits on weapons such as aftermath or pet attack bonus, etc.

It is pretty easy to solo bakka for the glyph axe (100% drop). It is a pretty okay axe for using until you get better - and with the +1 regain it is worth having for times you want to build TP on your pet before/without meleeing (for example I use it to build TP on my pet in dynamis between pulls)
I found using a coerl pet on Bakka was effective - paralyze really buggers up his spellcasting.

completely agree, except for the 100% drop part... Its not 100% drop at all.

I farmed that axe alot when visions first came out. It was the hottest item. It took 3 bsts at level 80 to take him down w/out needing to kite. too bad we didn't know how weakness targeting worked at the time :P.
