So, figuring out to wear in leg slots for pet tossing of NMs and wondering what the wear for legs if I'm looking for damage mitigation.

Wiki puts Stout Servant+1 at -2% PDT.

Its +1 to 5% so a total of 7% -pdt. I am pretty sure you'd get results from the added 2% -pdt.

And remember it's supposedly damage taken, not just PDT. If you want pet DEF you should look into Beast Bazubands.

I've not compared the 2, but Quijotes +1 and Quijotes +2 both say Stout Servant +1.

It might just be how the fractions added up, but my testing showed ~8% reduction from quijotes....

more specifically, a set of 2x -pdt axes (10% each) Anwig Salade and quijotes +2 reduced 1000 needles to 617 damage.

thats a 38.3% reduction. I'm pretty sure 8% reduction is better than pet def +10. Especially if its both physical and magical damage, which I'm pretty sure it is.

All right. Thanks for the info.

Now another question that I've been pondering:

Are all of our pets uncapped now? If all of our pets now are uncapped, we no longer need Beast Affinity and I'm wondering if it's time to reallocate to something like Beast Healer or even Killer Instinct if your party's target happens to coincide with the family that is weak against your pet. I mean we now have more families to choose from in regards to acceptable pets to use.

Resent tests show that Nanzuna is capped below 90. Can't remeber the post but copy/pasted it to FFXIAH forum:

Quote:
no BA merits, using Relic gloves at level 90, I was unable to get level 5 petrify to land on Nanzuna. This was after 6 separate Call Beast attempts. Sadly it seems sheep may have hit the cap. I was using her to solo VT/IT crabs for Dominion Notes in Abyssea, she would last ~3 mobs before dieing and I was able to get ~20k xp out of her (At level 88). I hope SE makes her cap out at 89 instead of 88, would make BA merits even more worthwile IMO.

I've actually had the same thing happen, but I was using monster gloves AND I've got capped BA. I certainly got some level 5 petrify's landing on some of the pets, so some of the sheep were level 90 for sure. A lot of them however didn't get called as level 90.

So i'm just going by what is stated on wiki for BA...

Note: It seems that this only applies to jug pets which are already capped. Uncapped jugs will continue to spawn 0-2 levels below the Beastmaster.

In which case the logical assumption is that Nazuma hasn't hit the cap yet? With a capped pet and capped BA they should be spawning at a fixed level every time right? Normal mechanics are making my sheep spawn 0-2 levels under me because they aren't capped, then Monster Gloves are taking this to 0-1 levels below. Sometimes giving me a level 90 pet, sometimes giving me a level 89 pet.

That statement on wiki is misleading and arguably unecessary.

To my knowledge BA does not guarantee that anything you call with it will call at cap. The normal rules of Call Beast still apply, so you'll still call pets 0-2 (or 0-1 with gloves) below your own, as long as their max level (with BA if you have it) is at or above yours. BA increases the max level the pet can be called at, but does not set what it will be called at. If it did, then Monster Gloves would be useless for many jugs as long as you had BA. The Call Beast wiki notes regarding BA state that BA only affects jug level cap, and makes no mention of having any other affect on called level. I think the BA page needs rewording.

If someone at 90 with no BA is unable to ever call a level 90 Nazuna then Nazuna is capped under 90. Someone with BA will still be able to call a level 88 or 89 Nazuna, but will also be able to call a level 90 one (assuming they have enough BA to bring Nazunas cap to 90+).

Ok so we're back to Nazuma probably having hit the cap. Not that a 6 pet test is entirely conclusive, but the odds of calling 6 in a row at 89 when 90 is the only other available level would seem pretty solid.

The game description on wiki is fine. That's actually what BA does, raises the cap of the pet to a maximum of your current level, if there's anywhere for the cap to be raised to. Then what you're saying is: normal Call Beast rules apply, regardless of whether BA is in effect or not.

The note on the BA page could probably be removed totally though, or at least reworded to be explicit about the fact that normal Call Beast mechanics still apply when BA is used.

we wont be able to tell what lvl the new pets cap @ until the next update and lvl is raised unless they had capped at lvl 85 and we know that to be true so if u have the BA merits already leave them on for now if u dont have then or u havent merited bst yet i would hold off atleast until the next update or just merit something else such as healer but i still dont know if that is worth it cause i have heard its only +1hp/tic and maxes at +5hp/tic capped when the pet has 4k +hp that doesnt add up to alot when your tossing pets at stuff
