There is a camp with 7 Ignus Djinn in Vunkerl Inlet near the southernmost zone to Jugner Forest (S). These are a bit tougher than Volcanic Gases, but do not use Self-Destruct. They do use an AOE Bio move, but easy enough to deal with via /dnc. This doesn't sound like a great camp, however, it's pretty much unbeatable for Day based killing. If I show up just before the day starts and go at max speed, using NPC for extra damage, I can kill 55-60 in a game day. This gives you a little margin for error if you're working on pet buff axes and accidentally get a few kills yourself. 3 game days for 150 bombs is nice.

djinn work for bomb kills? or just arcana. I didn't think they counted for bomb kills, then again.. I didn't really try either. I'm used to exp'ing on them ofcourse, but thats when you WANT them to blow up.

Also, leaving your pets could get expensive.

This is why you use a charmed pet. Typically a Scorpion in Ifrit's Cauldron. When bomb starts to self-destruct, you leave it. then recharm it for the kill.

But, is a Scorpion worth using over a Nazuna?

I went to ifrit's for the pet physcial -% earth route and used Lars back in the 75cap days.

I was able to do it in 3 days also.

Not only that, but the scorpions are pretty out of the way in case they die. Even with pet foods, might as well go with the 4k nazuna stacks over the 4k zeta pet food stacks.

Djinn work for bomb kills AND for arcana kills.

I'm working on -PDT axes, and have been doubling up on the kills, doing 344 on one Axe and 1333 on another Axe, at the same time. Dual-wielding them as /dnc.

I've been doing the kills in Batallia Downs [S] up near the Beaucedine zone line. The bombs can spawn TWW or EP - but in my experiences, they've been mostly EP. Earth weather is extremely common there, to boot.

If you melee along with your Pet (bring our your NPC too - he counts as a pet kill!) you can make very quick work of them. They'll only have enough time to use one TP move - and it's rarely the SD move. Even if it is, Feral Howl interrupts it... and if Feral Howl isn't ready, I save TP for Smash Axe.

During the time when it's not Earth weather or Earthday - kill the TWW spawns and convert to EP.

I think that this camp is even faster than Ifrit's on Earthday too.

I'm just starting Apkallu and was wondering if any BST have tips. I've read wiki and the MNK thread posted here. None of them talk about doing pet only kills. I was wondering if that would make a difference in managing increasing hate.

Obviously the trick is to make the kill with no other Apkallu looking on - then hate doesn't increase - but I was wondering if you just used pets for damage, if that would help keep things manageable.

I killed 20 last night before I logged and didn't really notice any increase. I'm going to have more time tonight so hopefully I can manage 50-60 which should give me a better idea.

Djinn will only self-destruct if you use a SC or Magic of the same element as the day. If you use rampage, no explosion, if you close scission on earthsday with your npc, BOOM. Some bst have been subbing sch or blm and putting a charmed pet on them, then spamming fire on firesday etc, til they explode for fast xp.

Djinn also count for both bomb and arcana trial but for that you don't want a boom. I called my npc and use a sheep at the tower near the zone to Jugner (S)for about 55 kills per game day. Like a previous poster, I did 2 pet: physical dmg -8% axes, so doubled up 2 trials, using /dnc for dual wield and healing waltz to remove Dark Wave (Bio AOE).

When a mob hit 10% health, I'd switch target and go after the next one while my pet finished it off, then just nail my Fight and Snarl macro. I don't think I ever stopped moving, just called a new sheep when one died. Sheep are so cheap especially with synergy skill, that 4 sheep to do a hour trial is nothing.

As far as Apkallu go, there's almost no point of avoiding other Apkallu seeing you make the kill unless you can guarantee that no one else is in another camp just spam killing. I've had days where hate rose slowly and days where a pack of ninjas and dark knights were killing at a larger camp and by the 5th kill it was impossible to whittle one down. A search revealed 25 people in the zone. I'd guess killing at the big camp by the Cor and Pup flag quest. There's another camp, containing 7-8 apkallu in the reef area by taking Ilrusi Atoll Staging Point and going to J-9 past 3 imp camps. A single bst can keep up for the first few waves of spawns and a sheep can safely tank 4-6 apkallu without running into problems with call beast timer. When the pet is nearly dead, I simply back off and wait til it dies. Then only the mob I used fight on will come running after me while the rest de-aggro. I put the sheep on it and rinse and repeat. By the time there's 3-4 apkallu left, it's pretty much chain killing. Can get one dead before the next one spawns. 20-25 a day is possible this way if no one else is killing in another camp. It's slow but be thankful that we don't need 450 like some jobs.

Ya thank the world we.... wait...

Awe crap. Axe trial 1298 is 450 apkallu's. ; ;

Down to @300.

Saw a rdm cast icespikes over and over on himself and got mad hate from casting. He was jp so couldn't understand him, but I figured that it caused magic dmg to prevent more physical dmg.

Don't forget to count Stout Servant which is -5% damage taken.

It doesn't stack additively with gear so it works out to be comparable to -3.5% from gear assuming you have all that stuff. Still nice though.

We need 450 for the atk 2-3x axe..

This is the camp I've been doing the last two days. I can easily kill ~50 in 90 minutes. I killed around 50 last night and 55 the night before. The zone had just been reset because of maintenance so there was no hate - one of the penguins was a green NPC. As I killed, none of the Apkallu fled to find their friends. Yet still, hate grew very slowly kill by kill. By the end my sheep was doing ~100dmg per hit which is still good but low compared to the start.

The next night, my damage was consistent around 150-180 the entire time and the Apkallu were back to fleeing to friends. This is really annoying. the best you can do is just spam zeta and keep your timer low to maintain momentum. Still after two days (and I don't play more than a few hours a day and do other stuff as well) I'm down to about 330/450 left :D Looks like it will go pretty quick. Quicker than I thought it would anyway!

Next is StoreTP+10 axe!!!

is there any way to not have penguins invincible after 10 kills? I've killed 10 of them only to have them become invincible and just have to run away and give up after that.

Don't group with more than 2 people and it helps if they can nuke.

Primal Rend does really good magical dmg on them.

Use a pet that can do magical dmg along with you(etc Dark Spore).

Also make sure no one just got done killing 50.

Like I said in the post above yours, I can kill 55 or more easily in a night. Some of it has to do with camp location (Reef is best) and the fact that there aren't other people killing them. Also, for hate management and safety reasons, I only use my pet to fight. I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Either way, I've been killing them in the Reef for 3 nights now and have had no problems. Managing the first group of 8 is always time consuming depending on how many friends they run to. Here is what I do to try and minimize the impact of running:

I pull the first Penguin I fight to a location far away from the main group. When the Penguin's HP is getting to 30% (seems to run @25% or below) I make sure my pet has FULL TP and have Feral Howl ready. As soon as he starts running, I Feral Howl and Sic/Ready. That has two benefits. 1) Sic can usually take its HP down 10-15% 2) Feral Howl allows my slow sheep to catch up to the penguin and whack it once or twice and then the whole way back to its friends. Sometimes the penguin is dead before he reaches them. Sometimes just a sliver is left. The idea is to get the original penguin dead before your sheep dies since the links won't come back to you if you're just pet fighting. Do this a couple of times and when you're down to 5-6 Penguins left, it won't matter if the original one runs. Your sheep will stay alive.

From then on its just an easy cycle of: Penguin pops, maybe links with a 2nd, kill it, next, repeat. Its mind numbingly easy. Maybe I've just gotten lucky but my sheep has never dipped below 100dmg per hit and the last couple nights has been usually 120-190 which is plenty fast. I kill 50-60 before I have to go to bed. Good luck!

For all you /dnc bsts out there, desperate flourish usually lands after 2-3 quick steps.

When they run away, just whack them continuously.

I used a punisher/O club setup at 80, so my tp was plenty. Spam Primal Rend like you mean it! Even when they start to resist, it still does 550+.

Finished my Richardets axe last night and was finially able to take a break.

Time to finish khanda... Go Go 413 Wamouras remaining.

I always went to the horototto ruins and killed the 2of-3of cardians synced to lvl 10. It's a murder zone.

This sounds fantastic really.

For amorph kills I synced to level 28 and went to shakrami for the worms. I was able to kill 60 in a game day w/ carrie.
Lower level kills are much faster, and there are plenty of cardians to tear thru.

Just as an FYI - It appears that SE changed the conditions for Pet Kill trials.

It now gives you credit if ANYONE'S pet kills the mob, not just your pet. So you can now team up with other BSTs to do these things :)

/salute
