The BST Anthologies - New IndexFollow

#1 Aug 16 2006 at 7:16 AM Rating: Excellent
Due to a number of requests via PM, I'm posting the new index on the main board instead of posting a link to the one in my journal.

Welcome to the revised BST Anthologies. The BST Anthologies is a comprehensive wealth of knowledge for the BST community. Each link below goes to a seperate thread specific to each zone/topic. Held within, one will find submissions from other BSTs that provide information to camps as well as strategies on certain NMs and/or battlefields.

The Anthologies is ever changing and hopefully will continue to grow with each BST generation. If you have any suggestions for the anthologies, please reply or send me a PM and I'll see what I can do into implementing such requests.

I'm in the process of updating each of these threads with camp information to make it easier to find where to head to inside the area. If there is any additions, please post replies or send PMs and I'll see what I can do.

Just a quick update.

Things have been hectic lately and I haven't done anywhere near as much work on the anthologies as I've wanted to. Nonetheless, things are slowing down and i'm working on them once again.

With that said, I've updated the posts for the La Theine Plateau, Tahrongi Canyon, and Konschtat Highlands. The posts now include some camp locations. I'm wanting to do all of the posts like this; however, since I haven't had much time recently I figured I'd do a few and get some feedback on them.

So...is adding the camps a good thing, bad thing, etc? Thoughts?

I like it alot better, makes it easier to find a camp instead of scolling through many different posts. Nice job.

Put in a lvling spot for the Den of Acorns that I ran into recently. I’m sure many already know about it… but I never did see any write-up.

Also put in a request to have this stickied once more. A post was made long ago to have this restickied… but it was expansion time and I think everyone was out at the red kisser colbri location camping on top of each other :P

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=3;mid=1162922399150779372;page=1#1162922399150779372

Also…. Bump to put this back in the bst eyes. Would be great to have more input for those areas not yet written.

Also added meriting info on the aqueducts 40 capped

Thanks a lot for doing this; I've been very busy and haven't visited the board in months. Glad to see the info's still around, even though I'm not around to take proper care of it. Y'know, it might be a good idea to inquire about getting it stickied again; it would get as many (or more) hits as/than the other stickies if it stayed up there. The only reason it's not stickied is because of its rough past ~_^

Nice to see ya again Ev.

I tried before Christmas to get this stickied. I believe people are more opt to pitch in and post when you can readily see it. Sadly the request was shot down. They said the max for stickies in the job forums are now 3.

Honestly, I think The BST Anthologies would be more useful than the Guide to New BST's since it applies all the way from 1-75. Then again, I'm kinda biased, y'know? ~_^ Maybe we should do a forum vote.

Also, a link to the original one in this one just for past's sake would really cool: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=8&mid=1103911514525455779&num=39

Hiya Ev!

I have to admit that I haven't put as much time as I'd like to into the Anthologies as I have been hoping. RL has been majorly swamped. Regardless I'm still working on getting some of the updates done that I have been working on (specifically camp information at the beginning of each post so ppl don't have to swim through details just to find said camp).

As far as it being re-stickied. I'm neutral on it since I'd love to see more hits on it's post for more up to date feedback on the camps; however, it is in the compilation sticky so the admins are usually so-so about such. I guess if ppl ask for it they may consider swapping it with the guide for new BSTs post (since that too is in the compilation last I looked). /shrug

Hey! Wonderful work! I just wanted to mention that right now (60-62) I am leveling in Attowa Chasm with a BST friend of mine and the exp is incredible. that might be a good section to add for the 60-65 range?

Keep up the good work :)

Good job on the update. One thing I think you should add is a section for BCNM50 Final Bout, and possibly one for the Kraken Club BCNM.

Added the link under 60-65. If you can add your information to said link, it'll help me out on posting the camp information in at the top of the thread. Thanks!

Changed the poll: looking to replace "Beastmaster Linkshells of Vana'diel" with this now, seeing as to how it has less general purpose and hasn't been updated in months.

You need to add a Maze of Shakhrami link for 20-30

the H-5 room on the second map is probably one of the best for 22ish-24ish

PETS TO CHARM: Combats (20-23), Carniverous Crawlers (22-25)
MOBS TO FIGHT: Combats (20-23), Carniverous Crawlers (22-25)

enter from tahrongi hug left wall, and turn left, hug wall go forward onto ramp go to back of ramp and turn right into the room

Crawler's Nest (S) 62-66
Mobs to charm: Witch Hazel 62-64, Labrynth Lizard 65-66? i think...
Mobs to fight: Puroburos and Quadavs

There's only 4 puroburo pops but u can fight quadavs while you wait for em to spawn. May be better to duo at lower lvls.

Vunkrel Inlet (S) 62-67 Campaign tower
Mobs to charm: Robber Crabs 62-64?, Stygian Pugil 64-65?
Mobs to fight: Robber Crabs, Sygian Pugils, Goblins, Djinn

or something like that.

Just as a FYI, the three areas around the cities in the past (Saru [S], Gusta [S], Ronf [S]) have mobs that make them targets for 15-20 as well.

One other FYI... I've been leveling BST and DNC at roughly the same time (not literally, obviously, I've just been leap-frogging them) primarily so I can have /DNC as my sub for BST (I never liked BST/WHM, as a Galka I had to put so much more effort into that stupid /WHM sub than I wanted).

Anyway, I mention this because I've been using these anthologies to level my DNC with. I go out with DNC/BST, using my same CHR gear and BST macros, and can pretty much target the same mobs/pets that I could as a BST/DNC at the same level. As long as I keep my BST higher than my DNC, I only notice the slightest difference in charm success between DNC/BST and BST/DNC.

Anyway anyway, someone may want to pop into the DNC forums and let them know of these anthologies, because DNC/BST (as long as your BST is high enough) is, IMHO, a faster way to solo level DNC than any other sub (and believe me, I've tried them all :-)

Just a FYI,

Rolanberry (S) and Batallia Downs (S) should probably be added to the 20-30 range as well. Both have really nice 28-30(ish) camps that I've commented on (I took my BST to them).

I duo'd in Mamook @71, wasn't very good. You can use lizard pets vs. Mamool or colibri/pugils vs. Ziz. The problem was that a) you had to roam around to find the 4 Mamool spawns so you couldn't rely on EM/DC lizards being available b) the Mamool THF takes about 5 mins as a duo to kill and c) Ziz are too high level for the pets to kill them off reliably without a swap, and aren't particularly squishy (petrify TP move doesn't help damage output either).

A trio might work out nicely vs. Ziz. Lizard pets are 70-72 and colibri/pugils are 70-71. Mamool are 73-76 I think, and Ziz are 76-78.

For whatever it's worth, I was enthusiastic. I just didn't think anyone *else* would be thrilled about having a relative no-name like myself taking over. Like I said in the thread, I wasn't expecting such a lack of volunteers...

I'd still be interested in doing it, if the posts can still be recovered. (I'm just not all that interested in upgrading to a premium account unless it can be done, since there's really nothing else I would want one for.) I've even been keeping track of some suggestions on improving the way the index is arranged.

Sorry to chime in on this. It's been a long while since I have posted anything here but I wanted to chime in.

This had happened once before to the Bst Anthologies. The original person who let us use their Journal Pages to input the Anthologies was Evanesance (I bet I misspelled that) When she left the game and stopped her premium account Unhollyllama took it up. So it has been done before.

If there isn't a whole lot of people enthusiastic to take this up sleepygirl I'd say go ahead and roll with it. I believe all you need is a premium and a moderators OK. If you weary about getting a Premium, contact the Moderators first and let them know you want to take this up.... they've done this before and I am sure they can do it again.

There's such a wealth of information and history in the anthologies. It would be a shame to see it lost so easily and without a fight.

I agree wholeheartedly. Please find some way to bring this wealth of knowledge back to us all. As a BST25 I want to learn as much as I possibly can about the job.

Man, I am curious as to what was in these anthologies. It seems like a shame for it to be lost.
Also if all the links are dead, does it really make sense to have this stickied?

You can still see some of the information using the Internet Archive (http://waybackmachine.org/). Last I checked, they were at mid-2008 for these, which is quite a lot. Subpages for zones that had them are missing though...

I still wish we could get a read-only copy or something put back up, but it seems there's not a whole lot else that can be done without Unholyllama approving it... And it's been months since he's been logged in here. -.-

I know I'm making a huge necrobump but is there anyway of getting these back? I know soloing on Bst isn't hugely viable because of book burns, but it may retain some use for monstrosity now. And if any new Bst wanna go the old school route for kicks and heck would help with keeping skills up to par too.

Unfortunately their user journal doesn't exist any longer exists, so there's no way of pulling out those links.

I'm in the process of gathering some information for a Monstrosity page, and one of the areas I'll cover will be related to recommended monster exping areas.
