Okay, first of all, do BST and Rangers get the same exact Wide Scan? Mine doesn't seem to be too useful since it only seems to pick up anything that I can already see from the spot I'm standing at. It's like the scan only picks up any enemy that's loaded (I forget the real term for it, like the polygons being drawn as you need them instead of being preloaded from five miles away) already. Rangers sound like they can see things on their scan across the zone whereas my scan shows only the animals in my particular grid if I'm lucky.

I am having questions about wide scan too. Not only about its area range, but if you click on an enemy, you get the Track and Ranged Scan (possibly?) menu. With ranged scan, its a big white circle... But everywhere I click I never see any enemies. Could someone explain this to me? I sound like the uber-noob, but I am only level 8 BST. Vetinari, Level 30 WAR, 8 BST, 5 MNK, Carbuncle Server

Hehe. Fancy meeting you here Vetinari :)

I'll share what I know, unfortunately it's pretty limited.

The Wide Scan ability seems to scan farther away from you as your level increases. Where I'm at right now (14) I can see the majority of the area between the cave in Valkurm and Konschtat Highlands with one scan. This seemed to increase when I gained levels (Started at 11, thanks to Vetinari for pointing wide scan out to me.)

The 'Track' ability of course puts on your regular map a crosshair to show where a particular mob has gone.. not really THAT helpful, but not bad if you're trying out the grouping strategy I posted in another thread. I have NO IDEA what the ranged scan does. It gives an error beep no matter what I click on, it seems.
