DarkKnight: viable sub?Follow

subject pretty much asks my question - anyone have input on Dark Knight as a sub would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your input. I'll probably take your advice in the long run. (The more I get poisoned and die 1 min after a fight, the more it makes sense=p )

Unfortunatly, casting anything will get you aggro. So why WHM then? because you can move out of aggro range and heal and then rest. With blm, you're screwed.

Subbing DRK isn't so bad, but I'd still go with warrior at low levels and white mage after 10 or so, when things like 250 damage poison duration comes into effect, and that you'll have alot of HP to heal if you get really unlucky and fail charm more then 3 times in a row. Subbing DRK, I would assume you would let your pet take alot of the abuse and then move in for the kill, but you'll still be taking alot more damage than you should for alot more downtime.

Not bad, but not the best for solo. I havn't analyzed how this would work in a party, too tired :P

Something I notice alot of people seem to skip over with use is that we can be created into a tank. I would suggest DRK personally because I don't like it, but thats not saying it doesn't have it's uses. I would go pally if you can afford the rings that offer mp. Also pally will help in creating you into a tank...BUT as someone stated out pets fight for us. When I subbed ninja I noticed if I joined my pet in a fight the fact that I matched my pets attack for sometimes double it's dmg because of two weapons I took more dmg that my pet.

So before you go off and turn yourself into a tank, keep in mind that you wanna lvl fast and dt(downtime) will hinder you. I would say go whm as sub only because I can get about 6 kills before I rest then 5 minutes back at it...pretty good for a soloer

yea but the axe sheild is still better..much less hate then scythe i find and the huge delay sucks....you dont want to generate aggro...that is the key.....not dealing tons of damge...use bonus' that give you ways to expedite your downtime etc..screw damage...just deal enough to finsh them off and generate no hate..that is when your set

its been said hundreds of times...and this is why their are only a few viable subs for bst..you need to be occupied and doing things while your beast fights..then run in for the kill...in that "prior kill time" you dont want aggro you want to be healing or resting etc and thats it. The bst has the ability to eliminate downtime...this is why it solo's viably and why others dont..its all about time vrs exp gained

but then again..dont let me detract from your fun...pretty much anything can work as long as you enjoy playing it
