I recently just got back into FFXI with my ranger, and I haven't played in over a year. Is there an updated gear/weapons guide I can check up on? It looks like the ones I have found on the forums are over a year old : /

Honestly, nothing much has changed in the last year for Rng. Sticky could maybe be updated with a few things though.

Daggers: Ranging Knie/Ranging Knife +1(Lv.24 Racc +6/7) Cursor's Pugio(lv.67 Agi+4 Racc+11)
Axes: Felling Axe(lv.13 Racc+4) Veldt Axe/Veldt Axe +1(Ratk+3/4) Tartagalia(Lv.75 Racc+3 Ratk+3 Emm-3)

Xbow: Nous Arbalest(lv.30 Dmg:21 Delay:288 Mnd+4) Tracker's Bow/Tracker's Bow +1(lv.45 Dmg:26 Delay:288 Agi+1 Enm-1) Lyft Crossbow(lv.73 Dmg:19 Delay:144, stats are odd)

Guns: Only Magian Guns's in the last year have been added.

Bows: Fay Gendawa(Pixie augment system) and Magian Bows are only new bows in the last year.

Armor: Volant Belt(lv.50 Racc+3 Agi+4)
The Ebon Jerkin pieces might have some use as well, though it's probably really situational for Rng. The Headgear looks pretty nice at least.

Rng never changes all that much gear wise. I'm taking one year really literally, so assuming you know about the Add-Ons(ACP at least).MKE Addon can give a nice WS(Maybe TP?) head, ASA can give you an OK TP leg piece(Or Barrage at least)

I'd also mention the Wilhelm and Altdorf earrings: AGI +8, Racc +1, Ratt +1 when worn as a pair.

Completely forgot about those earrings. Attempted to get them quite a bit, but had no luck on either NM. Not so bad if someone can't afford Triumph's I imagine.

Drop rates are just horrible, though the NM's aren't so bad at 75(Most likely **** near impossible at the level you can equip).

Just thought but the earrings might be even more useful when we get access to quick draw.

It would be interesting to see how those earrings stack up against dual triumphs. 4 STR vs. 8 AGI 1 RATT and 1 RACC has to be awfully close damage wise and superior accuracy wise and certainly a great option for Quick draw (although maybe not better than Moldy/Genin).

nah its a full acc vs damage competition, the set earrings only give any kind of damage boost on ws, and most of the time it's 1/2 the boost that the triumphs give, triumphs also boost regular shots while the 1 ratt in the set will likely be lost in the randomization of damage

not a big fan of the earring set all told, they aren't an acc increase from what was already available(though they are a level drop for 5 racc from 72) they eat both slots and are drops from separate nm's, with a poor drop rate to boot

only reason they even seem decent is that ranger earrings are so **** poor anyway, with only ~20 earrings in game that do anything at all for rangers and the only ones before vision at 50 are either augments or latents.

unfortunately SE has painted themselves into a corner, with how weak our high level earrings are there isn't room to add low level ones.

a latent effect of 1 ratt is considered a level 40 effect to SE, whereas 3 att full time is a level 21 effect. should be getting 1 ratt at level 10 or so allowing a scale up to 5-7 ratt in the 70s just like it is for melee

I macro them in for barrage or slugshot with Obow. I think 8 agil 1 ratt will beat out 4 str for slugshot. Not sure though. Nice to actually have a decent earring option for barrage now atleast.

I think its more of a all round pair for marksmanship. You have equivalent RACC to Vision/Hollow and equivalent Slugshot damage to dual Triumphs. Plus an added bonus of being a great QD pair esp for Light shot. So if a marksmanship ranger wanted to free up some earring slots, he couldn't go too wrong fulltiming this pair.

Even though the drop rate sucks it probably is easier to obtain these than getting Hollow and farming a couple million gil for Triumphs.
