Archery Merits 4/8 vs 8/8Follow

How vital is it to get the full 8/8 as opposed to 4 marks and 4 archery?

My Rng is currently sitting at 66 but after I merit archery I'm taking it to 75. I would assume I will be using archery/marks about 60/40 for endgame stuff, or do you mostly use archery and only guns/xbow sometimes for endgame?

I have a hope torque, and one organ from Breeze gorget.

Go all archery or all marks. Half-and-half is a waste (unless you are seriously a career RNG and you want 8 in both).

I'm a COR main so I went 8/8 Marksmanship, 8/8 SWD and 4/8 Archery. I use Marksmanship mostly on RNG and rarely use Archery at all.

Use of Archery vs Marksmanship will vary based on what you use RNG for. If you are doing a lot of HNM's where you have to stand far away, the Archery makes more sense given its sweetspot. If you are zerging sky Gods and the like and the melee don't want you to move the mob, then guns make more sense so you can hang in closer. If you are doing things like Dynamis, Nyzul, Salvage, sky farming, etc where the mobs are relatively weak, then XBow is a good choice for acid and holy procs. If you are meriting on RNG, then...wait why would you merit on RNG >.>

Anyways, tl;dr version. Look at waht activities you do and decide which weapon would be best for each. Then merit what you'll use more.

As a career ranger with 8/8 marksmanship and archery plus both my hope and faith torques i can tell you that every bit of skill you can pump into them matters. i'm the only "serious" ranger in my LS and it shows in every parse. that you already have a hope torque would make me lean more towards telling you to go 8/8 archery. however, like the others said, figure out what you do most. look at where you stand most of the time in relation to what you are fighting. if you're always far away, 8/8 bow is the way to go. but expect it to be pricey, eurytos', kaburas.... if your with a melee heavy group, marksmanship may be more your cup o tea. also pricey with hellfire+1 (possibly dragonmaw) and silver bullets. if you fight weaker mobs that you can get acids to stick on, or, part of the newer breed of "budget" rangers, crossbow ftw. I can tell you that i utilize all of them almost equally... It's nice to be prepared to do optimal damage regardless of the situation.

Not really. Most dangerous AoEs have a distance of 20.0. Archery's sweet spot is around 10.0.

AoEs as a reason to go with archery over marksmanship is a non-issue.

Thanks for the tips guys. I guess I'll be doing 8/8 Archery because SE are asshats and won't allow us to have more than 2 jobs worth of merits, and also because I already have Hope Torque, and just picked up PPA.
