Ok, hold on Carl, first there are a few things to look at.

It's incredibly popular now to just get to your mid 30's and sync in Ronfaure (s) on birds till you can do birds in wajoam/bhaflau. This means that off the top, we are getting a +25% damage bonus against birds so youre going to do 25% MORE damage per hit that anyone else that ISNT using piercing damage.

Also, you have to remember, birds like to hit hard and fast, enmity lost is a a function of the damage taken and your total hitpoints, so the harder a mob hits you, the more hate you lose, whereas, a Rng is generally standing back and not getting clobbered thus not losing enmity at the same rate.

Provoke is a flat 1800 Volatile enmity with +/- % based on the +/- enmity of the person voking. VE wears at 60/sec. So youre going to build hate faster, and lose hate slower than the people voking, or trying to tank the mob youre fighting on a general basis, unless you have a really good and well gear paladin.

I gurantee that at your levels, if you were to fight mobs other than birds, your damage is going to fall much much closer to that of other DD's.


Now, if you want to slightly gimp yourself when pulling, just so youre not tanking from the, you could always macro in some wooden arrows for your pull shot, they're still going to hurt the mob, but not so much that a tank cant voke it right off you.

Keep in mind as well, at various levels, merit levels start kicking in and you never know if maybe the war thats trying to tank has -enmity merits because he is a blm or whm main.

Oh dont get me wrong, i do completely concur. I havent levelled a job post 40 in years, till recently and now i am working on war. I see it as well as you do. The fortunate thing however, is that, you have the choice of going to / staying with that party or not. I have no qualms with leaving a pt in a heartbeat if people arent doing their jobs. Thats the choice you get to make.

As for not having cheap food, well sure there is plenty, you have Pot-au-feu 10k a stack, you could even choose to eat mithkabobs if you like, you dont get ratt or racc out of it, but atleast you get some str. You could even get crab sushi if you want some racc. There are things you can do.

sorry bout that, the copy paste method of being an ass failed on me last night, salmon sushi does though and its like 8k on Bis... and yes spamming miths for str is fail, but regardless, there are options, which is the point i was trying to make...

I think he meant the enmity adjustment was permanently shelved, not that RNG is a dead job.
