RNG AF GuideFollow

Yeah... Recently, after they upgraded Scavenge, there has been a lot of trouble in getting the earring. I've been hearing stories from other RNGs that it's been taking anywhere from 10 to 30 or more attempts at Scavenge, that really sucks. ><

Nikk, after you've got AF2 started, I DO believe you can go activate the coffer hunt AF items: Hands, Legs, Body., These three you can get in any order, you just need to talk to the guy in Upper Jeuno first. The other three AF items are actually part of a continuing story, so you would need to finish each part before moving on to the next. This applies to: Bow of Suck, Head, Feet.

Update, I can confirm that you can get each piece of Ranger AF (other than Ranger AF hands) without having to finish your [insert job here] Hands quest.

too me numerous times as well - but then I went out and came back in and got it on my first attempt ... not sure if that was coincidence or luck.

Also, I find fishing, coffer drops, etc... are all better on the full moon. Something to consider.

Nope.. Old Guanlets are what you should get from the coffer, it's the same name for every job.

When you finish the quest you'll get Hunter's Bracers.

Ive got a lvl 70 THF and am now lvling RNG. I was wondering how much (if any) of the quests can i do with my THF? because i accepted the AF1 Bow quest with my ranger, changed to thief and completed the rest just fine. that would be sweet if i could do the eldieme necropolis and castle O parts with my THF for example, maybe sub rng for scavenge in castle O...and yes i know i must open any coffers as my RNG.

Sorry if this has already been covered (which im sure some of it has). but theres 1 billion posts on this thread and i dont wanna "Scavenge" through them all hahah!

Good guide. I have followed this to a 'T' and have almost entire AF done at lvl 56. Only thing though, did not know that Davoi was so stinking hard and took so long to find a key, even with 2 high level THF's and about 1.5 hours no key drop. Oh well, back to Davoi I go =)

Great Guide, just too bad I picked it up after finishing my ranger AF ^^;;

Just one thing tho:
"I've done this for a total of 4 keys, and it never takes more than 20 minutes (about 5-15 kills) between the key drops." All about luck... never say never. 4 hours a lvl 75 thf with TH2, a lvl 75 pld and a lvl 75 sam, to tag on two other lvl 60 friends and myself lvl 56 at the time I think. Slaughtered ever nest beetle in the area and pulled in most of CN's coffer key drop is rare. Everyone I've spoken to has agreed, 20 min is just pure luck, I have a friend who was here pretty much for 4 days straight, and another who spent a total of 2 weeks spending most of his time hunting down here (no lvls no nothing, just AF week which then became two weeks). As I recall we slaughtered every beetle in the area and then pulled most of the horn flies with the other half of the party...

Unfortunately too much in this game is due to luck =X

Though I think it was just as long if not longer, my Davoi key seemed shorter while I was doing it.

me and my whm friend spend about 3 hours at Castle for Scavange-.- 75NIN/RNG, so no aggros.. 3 hour spend there.. finally got it.. and went to do my AF3.. and Yes A 75NIN/WAR with 75WHM/BLM can duo the damn AF3 tiger with ease.. just need watch out for the Paralyze... cuz he misses alot O.o... now just 2 coffer left:) davoi and CN.. :)... and need work on my WHM's bard af ^_^ , then we'll be like lvling crazy to 75 ^_^..

31 scavenges later and 5 deaths and a delevel later, i have my earring for the hell that is RNG AF2.

Yes, according to others I've talked with you can, and if I remember correctly I have done it myself also.. For the old gaunlets that you have to unlock from a coffer as part of the quest for Guslam, you can open as any job.

However, for the other coffers that you get the AF directly from you will have to be the job corresponding to the AF that you're trying to get.

Meaning for us, you would have to be on RNG to get the RNG AF from the Crawler's Nest coffer and the Monastic Cavern coffer (opened with the Davoi coffer key).

Yeah the earring was 140k when I bought it on Diabolos, not too long ago. I've yet to kill Koenigstiger, and LS is taking me to Davoi tonight to get my key for my jerkin, so almost done :) Ty for the guide, it's been most helpful.

After much wailing and gnashing of the teeth, I have my first set of AF gear. Much thanks to RKenshin for being my guide through this rather harrowing experience :P I tried Koenigstiger with myself and my LS leader, who's a 75RDM. No luck, so we asked for help and got a 60SAM and 75NIN and spanked it. I have to say I like the storyline of the AF (being someone who plays these games for the story). Anyhow, glad it's over.

Darkspark isn't really too hard, most 75 jobs can solo it without trouble if they know what they're doing. A decent level 55 or higher exp PT setup should be able to kill it without much trouble as well. Just make sure to have some sort of Barfira in case it blows up.

Lvld ranger to 50 and wanted to get AF out the way. Did af1 2 and 3 quests and cnest coffer mostly solo as either my rng when i needed to or 75mnk. Just some advice on AF3...be careful and dont underestimate this thing. As a 75mnk/nin i thought i would b able to take it solo but i decided to bring a 63whm backup just in case. Start the fight out evertying going smooth, i had heard that its acc was poor so i used jack o lantern(eva +10 acc+10 and demon killer) as food. First thing i noticed was that this thing has hella health so with me being the only person meeling i wasnt doin that well, and i would guess im a pretty decent mnk doing anywhere from 50-90 per fist and 600-900 on asuran fists. Second thing, this mob has a graviga move which it will use when it has 100tp, graviga will erase ur shadows, then it uses roar which will paralyze all party members, and then it will use a claw tp move so better keep shadows up and be very careful with giving it tp, being mnk i was feeding it tp like crazy. Third thing, i have the second highest eva in the game and its capped with +10 eva from food and some other gear with eva + he was still hitting constantly so watch out.

All in all the fight took about 8-10 minutes. Both me and the whm 2hrd and he was out of mp by the end of the fight. Now to get my jerkin and my bracers^^ thanx for the great guide.
