Ok im thinkin about makin a Ranger when this comes out on PS2 and What do I need to know about this class things like equipment cost and skills and class and sub choices ect.
Whats the best class for this,giveing rankings from 1-10 would help alot 1 being the lowst.
And whats the deal with guns I hear alot of things about them and can i get them at a low lvl.
1 more thing when u change to a adv job do u lose ur old job like being a WAR then swich to DRK and then start from lvl 1 agian and then can u change ur main job over agian same with sub jobs

One more thing do u have to buy arrows like 40 for 20 gil each or do Bows and guns jus shot and u dont have to buy arrows and bullets

ok no matter what if u decide to lvl every class to 2 and then u get 1 to 30 and pick up ranger you will always have the ability to go back to your old class at what lvl it is like u just left off from there. guns are very expensive(hell the whole class is) my suggestion is go theif to 30 so u get some money saved up get ranger use it to 20 then get ninja and subjob that so you can duel wield weapons. Mithra is the best for ranger if you want accuracy, which is all this class needs to annihilate things. at lvl 28 u can equip a dagger that adds +10 accuracy and duel wield these so you get +20 range accuracy. im just starting ranger now but i have dragoon to 44, whm 30, and a bunch of classes at 15. lookin at ranger for some new fun and it is so far. just when people say its expensive.....and you say ya ok....you have no clue. ive spent about 20k for the proper gear so far and im lvl 10 and it only gets worse. from what i understand the gun thing, at lvl 50 apparently guns are the way to go for ranger but like i said i dunno about this class fully so any extra input by someone who knows this class would be better. this is IMO stuff of course
You have to buy your own arrows/bullets.
Most used subjobs are WAR and NIN, some over 60 use SAM.
It's an expensive job, if you can't afford it, don't waste your time on it.
Equipment is expensive and crucial for being a RNG that can hit your target.
All races are pretty much equal.
Elvaan : Look cool (apparently), high STR, low Accuracy (made up for with equipment)
Galka : Low AGI, great STR, pretty rare.
Hume : All around.
Mithra : High AGI/DEX, good Accuracy, reasonable STR, most common.
Taru : Low STR, high AGI, good hit rate.
I suggest going THF to 18, WAR to 15, then THF to 30 before you go RNG. That way you can sub WAR if you like, but have THF close to 45 if you want treasure hunter 2, at the least you'll have treasure hunter 1.
If you have no idea what I just said, I suggest you read, read, read, read. 99% of your questions can be answered by reading past posts in the forums of this job, and any other job you might want to look at. Read as much as you can about stats/abilities (listed above under the Description) for any job you have an interest in. You pretty much asked to know everything about being a RNG which would take way too long to post. Go do some reading up on it.
Your jobs stay at a static level (never change, unless you die and lose exp far enough to drop you down a level). Subjobs can only be half the level of your main (they're temporarily dropped, but remain at the level you got them to, so you can always go back to them). You can change jobs whenever you want.

You can get guns at a fairly low lvl, but you'll not likely be able to afford them. Stick with bows and arrows to start, maybe the occasional crossbow/bolt to build your marksmanship...then, when you're squared away in all other areas and can effectively farm/craft for the gil needed to use guns on a regular basis, go for it.
The greatest ongoing cost to Rangers is ammunition, whether you use bow or gun...every arrow/bullet you fire is one that you had to buy (or make). Ammunition is what makes Rangers the most expensive job to play in the game.
