IS it just me or does anyone else have a problem with Flaming Arrow? I've tried using this WS 20+ times and it never lands on any mob that's VT or over (even w/ SS).
On these mobs, I'll hit about 70% of the time. It would seem that our WS are much less accurate than our regluar shots. Anyone else find this to be the case?
Does missing your WS screw up the chain?

Yes, it does break the chain if your WS misses.
I have the same problem with Flaming Arrow right now...hopefully after lvl 28 or 30 it'll get better with the ACC boosts. Until then, I try to stick with Piercing Arrow + SS, especially if I'm fighting VT or higher. =\

I tend to save my Sharpshot for when I will be using my WS. It seems to help.

Couple of things. One, for levels 1-29, I used macros where I _always_ used SS before a WS. That was the only time that I would ever use the ability. Secondly, if you are having trouble hitting with your WS, be sure to let your party know, and ask to be put first/last in the skillchain if possible.
When you get to Lv16, I'd recommend switching of to the Power Bow +1 for the RAcc bonus. Hope your luck gets better! =)

Yes, I too have noticed similar results...I almost always stick to Piercing Arrow if given the choice.
Even so I've stuck to using SS before it each time same as Oneshot. Piercing Arrow sticks I'd say 3 out of 4 times...whereas my normal shots maybe more then 9 out of 10 are successful.
I can only assume Flaming Arrow is more successful against some MOBs then others, but it misses so much I barely have the desire to try.

i've had a problem w/ Flaming Arrow early on, but i seem to hit it quite often now. i do use SS before my WS.

Every ranger have that problem until lvl 28. Just hang in there because flaming arrow ws is the best ws for a long while. It deals more damage and comparable damage to piercing even to high D mobs. I notice that I tend to miss flames a lot pre 28, but then again, you miss a lot in general. I have heard of rumors that there is a racc drop with flames.
Rng gains tp faster than most other classes so the sc bonus isn't really worth the trouble to wait up for others. You usually deal more damage if you just ws off when you get 100% than wait for sc bonus.

IMO, anytime you want to use a weapon skill, you should use sharpshot. I use it before every Barrage and weapon skill, even though I'm at level 30.
It's just not worth it to waste 100% TP or more just for not using sharpshot.

Well, once you get to Lv30, you should use SS exclusively when you use Barrage (since they have the same recharge), as the damage potential is much higher. Yes, you can rig it so you Barrage and WS in the same fight, but I find that I usually don't even need SS for my WSs nowadays on IT mobs. *shrug*
Use piercing until Sidewinder.. you Black Mage will thank you for it... :)

I never had a problem at low lvls with my WS missing...one reason why is because my first job was RDM and I did lvl the ranged atk a bit when I was a RDM...it seemed to get me past the "problem" spots your talking about

Once I got my two Bone Ring +1, my WS miss rate dropped to roughly 1 in 10-15 tries. I always use SS when I WS.
