so I was off to the AH to buy some arrows when some idiot imflated the price from 600 a stack for woods to a whoping 1k. So I headed out to the look for a weapon shop to see if I could find cheaper arrows, and sure enough I did. In the Windurst Port, in the weapon shot boat, the merchant sells wooden arrows for 4Gil per arrow (396 for 99) and 5 gil for bones (495 for 99) INSANE DIFF IN PRICE!
so for all you rangers starting off, this is the best place to get your equip, hope it helps :P

You just ruined some guys plans for making money :P.
Usually with a lot of items they're cheaper to buy at shops, but sometimes they only have a certain amount per day and are hard to get. I don't think this is the case with arrows, just sayin, always check shops, THEN the AH :)

Yea, same goes for iron arrows. They range from 7-8 gil an arrow at Weapon Shops. I
In the AH they're about 1k for a stack, while if you buy them from the shop they are a little under 800. Then for Silver Arrows there is an even bigger difference. Always try to get them at the shops if you can, but it can be hard to find shops that sell them.

Which cities get silvers is based on conquest rank. If sandoria is in the lead the weapons shop there will sell them. If bastok is in the lead you can get them there, probably in the back room of the item shop in the market district where you get the other types, but I'm not sure. If windurst is in the lead you're out of luck, since to the best of my knowledge they don't sell them there. I looked all around and only found places with bone and wooden. I couldn't even find irons.
Sandy and Bastok got silver arrows when they are in lead. Usually, low lvl items including arrows are cheaper in shops. They are even cheaper when you have fame. You can get bone arrow for as little as 3 gil in boneworking guild in windy. You can find low lvl arrows just about everywhere in every town for less than AH. Most sellers in AH don't even make their arrows, equipments, spells, rather they buy from stores than sell them at AH. Synthing your own arrows is also a bit cheaper than stores, but not by much until much later.
I'm not 100% sure I'm correct, but I believe that the fact of whether or not a nation's weapon shop will sell Silver Arrows depends on the regions the nation has under control.
In most cases that will be the number one nation, seeing as they have more regions, but I'm pretty sure what region you have under control is what matters to what is sold. Hence having a terrible weapon shop when in last, and great one when in first.
Although I'm not sure what region you would need to control for silver arrows, if that really is what it depends on... It would seem it is Valkurn Dunes (my guess), since Bastok and San d'Oria are always fighting for it, and the one who has control usually is also ranked first if Windurst isn't (giving the leading country the arrows). And Windurst almost never has control of the Dunes, so they almost never get silver arrows.
There has also been times where San d'Oria has been in first, but still didn't sell silver arrows. So that would explain it.
I could be wrong, but just something to consider :D

You can buy Ice Arrows (maybe other elementals too, I don't remember) from the same PortWind shop when Windy is in first. 45g a pop.

huge tip: pretty much all the lvl 10 or less stuff for any class are cheaper at NPC than AH.
