When your using wide scan...and a monster or NM spawns..does it automatically puts a red dot on the map or do you have to refresh the scan for it to show.

I may be wrong, but as far as I can tell it's a snapshot at the instance you hit won't register movement of any creatures that have moved since you used it, nor will it automatically register new NMs that have popped up since.

You can, however, ESC out of the current scan and keep refreshing the map by hitting Widescan again...

I don't think reselecting Wide Scan works... if you notice, when you first pull up your map and scan, it has to "populate" the scan area. If you ESC out of scan (but stay in map), and just go back, it's instant. And as far as I can tell, the mob locations never change if you "refresh" without exiting the map.

Annoying, but oh well... wide scan still rules.

nah, its kinda annoying, but like the other one said, it just takes a "snapshot" of where everything is. So if something spawns, and if something moves.. you won't know it until you close down your map and scan again.

i do beleve wide scan is constantly updating, unlike the map when ur looking at the group markers, ive notice mobs disappear and appear on the wide scan while using it. (usually while im on auto follow, checking wide scan for mobs)

I think you musta dreamed it...I fought leaping lizzy for hours and used wide scan, I am 100% positive you have to go out of the map and back in.

To clarify

Monsters will dissapear from widescan. It happens when someone kills it. A new spawned mob will never appear on widescan, you have to keep refreshing.

I'm just curious how you might have confirmed this so you're 100% sure. Like any other test, you must have had some kind of control subject?

When you had your map up...did you have a friend spot the Leaping Lizzie for instance and have you ESC-refresh without exiting the map?

I'm not 100% sure myself that ESC-refresh DOES or does not update the map. I could have imagined it, yes, but after many hours myself helping groups hunt ghouls in Valk I was able to see new MOBs turn up on my list WITHOUT exiting fully out of the map.

I'm interested in hearing what other results people have noticing if this is true or not.

EDIT: Heck I'll try it tonight....easy test. I'll target that NPC in WRon that walks up and down the road. I think he walks far enough in the region that his movement is unmistakable. I'll see where he is in Widescan...then scan again 5 mins later to see if his position has changed. The whole time I'll keep the map up.... I'll let you know my result.

OK, I tested Widescan as promised.......I'm totally:

WRONG! As noted, widescan will not update or refresh once the map is up. You'd have to completely exit out of the map and re-enter before you can get a new update using Widescan.

Such a shame.......
