I'm currently in the 20s level of being a BLM. I was thinking of going summoner for my subjob to get a mana boost, but then I saw a Taru Ranger. I thought, heck, that'd be really cool to be, and I"d enjoy it. So I"m going to go Ranger as my main, and BLM as my sub.
I know that this is not the "perfect" combination, but I really dont care to be the ultimate warrior, I'd rather do something fun.
The problem with being a BLM initially is the lack of funds that we have. So if I was to switch to ranger, would have continue to have money problems? Once I get to be a Ranger, I plan on leveling up my BLM in the off time, and not bother buying it new spells.
I'm wondering if money is going to be a problem for me still? Are there any other problems I'd run into? I eventually plan on changing my BLM sub to another one, but that's way into the future.
Any help is cool, if this is a repeat of another topic or something I"m terribly sorry. Thank you :)

From what I've seen of the game, making decent money past level 30 shouldn't be too hard. just use your level 30+ blm to raise funds, then switch back to ranger and use up those funds. It'll be a little extra work, but if you're set on ranger, it should suffice. You could also work up your crafting skills and craft your own ammunition. It's very time consuming and costly at first, but some people enjoy crafting as much as they do fighting. I'm a theif planning to go ranger. Several people thought that theif was best in order to offset some of the ranger costs (I just didn't want to be a typical hack-and-slash tank), but I'm not finding that theives make much more gil than other classes. So you should be fine.
As for your other question...You'll nuke one guy at a time instead of several, and you'll use ammo and weapon skills to do it instead of mp.
