What would you like to see for your job: Drk Edition!Follow

Since the job forums have been pretty inactive for awhile, I thought I'd start a new topic in each devoted to things you'd like or wish that Square Enix would do with each job. They can be legitimate things you'd like to see, or they could be absurd, and, while they can be, they don't have to be any serious or groundbreaking changes you think each job needs, just something you think would improve them a bit in some form. Just try to keep the topic clean and drama free (emphasis on try). Just have some fun with this and let your ideas soar.

A small thing really, cause I think that everyone can agree that, right now, Dark Knight is pretty solid, but maybe adjust Entropy's damage a bit so that it's a bit more in line with Resolution. Given how powerful Resolution is, it's almost universally better for a Drk to be using Great Sword over a Scythe, and I think being able to have that option to go either way would let Drks choose which they wanted instead of arguably being forced into a single choice.

One handed use of great swords yes please.

Souleater 2.0. Consumes all your HP into your next attack leaving you with one. But does dmg accordingly.

Wouldn't serve any purpose. If a DRK needs attack, he's getting buffs anyway, period.

Absorb-Haste (or Speed) is a logical step. Gives us a Magical haste source for solo/lowman without affecting those high-buff situations, and would act as a reliable slow for damage mitigation too.

Buffing Entropy serves little purpose because Scythe has hit the 5-hit wall. If Scythe could more easily go 4-hit (Apoc can't pull it off btw, because all our good STP gear puts us at 25% haste anyway, there's no 'exchange' to be made).

So from that, I would almost suggest a new Trait for DRK: A native Store-TP increase or base TP per hit increase based on the delay of your weapon, scaling hard after ~450 delay (which is the 'pit' of the TP gain vs delay graph). If it produces a decent increase to Scythe's base TP gain it could easily make 4-hit the norm while not (over)benefitting Ragnarok or other low delay Great Swords and naturally not one-handing.

I've been a proponent of Absorb Haste since long be Raelix became a douche. I still wouldn't come back, but it would be nice to see the old job get it eventually.

See, that's the part that **** me off about you Turin. You're still just trying to be like friggin' Aru and failing every time. I tended to respect him at least.

Also, he totally called Drain II (just that we'd get it), Aspir II, Absorb-Attri and Dread Spikes precisely... in two-thousand-f*cking-SIX.

So really, Absorb-Speed is just a matter of time. Even still your first mention of it is in a thread where he had already mentioned it again a year later.

Thanks for opening up the search function Zam, it's really good for smacking down blowhards.

Aborb Haste and Absorb STP would both be the most useful thing they could possibly give us but it doesn't stylistically match DRK. Those both sound like SAM based JA's and JT's and the dev teams response to that request would probably be along the lines of "Just play SAM if that's what you want.

For some reason they want DRK to have 6 gallons of attack in a 5 gallon bucket and the ability to intimidate dolls...

Dark knight should be given rasp, drown, shock, burn, and shock. Lower cast times.

Also give dark knight tier IV nukes. Take them from RDM, since DRK has higher elemental magic skill anyway.

Chaotic cruelty - job trait lvl 36 ( DRK, RDM, SCH)- halves mp cost for elemental magic but doubles enmity gain for elemental magic. (Would need to increase occult occumen tp gain for this to be effective.)

Tormentors delight - job trait lvl 60(drk only) - increases magic damage proportionate to enfeebles inflicted on target. Also reduces dark magic casting time.

Pain - spell lvl 60(drk only) - any enfeebles on the dark knight can be instant cast onto the target. (bad breathe? Echo drops then cast the spell and see the tables turn. Doesn't cure drk, only gives same enfeebles to target. If DRK has no enfeebles on then it does nothing.

Darkness - spell lvl 45(drk only) - AoE blind, and darkness DMG. Targets that aggro sound are immune to blind.

Darkness II - spell lvl 90(drk only) - AoE blind, and darkness DMG. Targets that aggro sound are immune to blind.

Dark knight should do minor DMG with darkness DMG but be able to do it spam and finish with an elemental Nuke. Effective against physically resistant targets.

Absorb speed would be pretty cool too.

I think Drk doesn't need sleep, sleep II, bind, and should lose all 3 in place of more useful spells. Especially since dark knight is a very physically powerful melee for that.

I think the job is amazing already, it's just lacking a bit on the magical side, and could use some incentives to use them. Possibly a trait that converts 3% DMG from WS to MP. To get DRK comfortable with using mp, and not so dependent on Aspir for all their mp returns. It's not to break the game just to make sure each job can consistently contribute to a fight with little slow down.

With 2013 behind us and 2014 just starting, what would you like to see come to the Dark Knight job? Has Adoulin changed the job with no relation to Batman in a way that you do or don't like? Is there an unresolved issue that you think they still need to fix?
