just to add a little to what disifer said, you also mentioned samurai. i tried samurai before level 70 and yeah it was alright, when i missed zanshin didnt even kick in very often but i liked using hasso.

all in all though after using it i dont feel as though it is something to use as sub before 70. because at 70 you can use seigan and third eye for defense. so since the sub offers no defense before level 70, you might as well be subbing war if you want an offensive sj. at 70 it is something to reconsider though.

yeah, /DRG is better left till you can get a Brutal but it's still awesome without it. DRK/DRG w/BRD or COR just destroys ****.

that is correct, you could always crit on the ws naturally, but it wont be because of the hidden effect of the scythe

LD, ive been a drk for a while now and i got a question. Im a lvl 75 Drk and i use Martial scythe, alot. Its actually my main scythe as a drk/thf (I use Trec as Drk/War for the uber crit). My reasoning behind this is because the extra 100% TP i get boosted onto me when using a WS. 140TP Spiral **** becomes a 240%, which gives me the 3x mod that makes it always 1k+ (Str macro, abs str and int when i can afford it). Is that so bad? And if it is could you give me a good explanation why, and give me a alternative? Every 'test' i do, or that i like to think i do keeps comming out proving that a 140% Spiral with /thf and martial out does any other WS/scythe combo at the current time with /thf. (Ive done better guillotines, but thats because of double atk proc and crit rate with 4 hits with a trec as a /war). And if it isnt so bad, and an actually good combination to consider, why isnt it stated? Me and a fellow drk on my server both has extrodinary results with this combination, DoT suffers 10dmg average a hit from death and trec, and i dotn get the 13 hit crit, but you yourself said, any half decen drk knows endgame, its about Spike damage and Stun, and the highest spike damage in the shortest time ive found so far for /thf is Spiral ****/Martial.

I havent gotten to read the whole thread yet, as im about to go to school and just registered. If some one asked the question just say so, ill find it when im home again.

People might miss the fact that DRK can never obtain this WS even though you stated that its WAR only. It should be removed from the list. I can not think of a single reason to use GA ever after level 60.

I think Abs_STR should be added into this now with the sec cast timer, its a great spell to cast if you can spare the mp.

i'd like to comment on the sam sub and hasso/seigan recast penalty. it's really not much of an issue so far for me. i have missed stunning the occasional firega III from an imp when one of our pulled mobs gets a wild hair up its *** and decides to stop and nuke us on the way in. this hurts my professional pride a bit, but mire mobs are so weak that if we eat one or two tIII -ga spells in a night it's not a big thing. more annoying is the recast on abs tp. but really as /sam i have more TP than i know what to do with anyway, so it's mostly just breaking the habit of automatically abs tp after the first 4 seconds or so of the fight. if i'm going to to merits it's /sam for me unless i know the tank has balls of solid rock. if i'm going for main stunner then most likely i'll be /thf or /war (if it's needed for claiming) anyway. i'm going to go to gods as /sam in a week or two, just to see how hasso zerg stacks up in damage vs. SATA. i'll post results.

Somepage is wrong unless they changed it. Our GA cap is 240.

Ground Strike closes distortion as well as Fragmentation so either will work.

If someone doen't know about Justice torque before reading this guide they wont have access to one any time in the near-distant future.

Can someone with capped Gaxe skill at 75 verify this? That sucks, but at the same time atleast I am closer to capping Gaxe if that is the case.

skyra is right about the apoc and torque, i dont even know what she is talking about but if anywhere in this guide someone talks about apoc but they leave out torques, the torques need to be added, if for no other reason than you can way WAY more easily obtain a torque than any relic.

and the wiki still says our cap is 240, and since i trust the wiki more than somepage... at any rate, i find it hard to believe that if this was changed, that nobody after all this time would have updated the wiki.

all this talk about having STR being a#1 priority got me confused. i read the drk guide a few months back and read the stat priority was accuracy&attack>Dex&str and bought an assload of new ACC&ATK enhancing pimp gear. Now you're telling me this is why im still not doing as much damage as a DRK should?!

...*kills self for spending 300k*

my gear adds up to be Attack+21
and accuracy+19 with scythe
accuracy+16 without scythe

My scythe, belt, one ring, and hands increase my accuracy
everything else except my boots, weapon, and ranged jacks up my attack power.

wtf v.v so is attack important or not? im sorry for asking a question that could be answered with extensive research but i just need to get it straight in my head.

SCH has the best DoT spells in the game.
Everything else is completely up to gear, play style, party setup, type of mob being fought, moon phase, food eaten, player's underwear preference, price of rice in China, how many rovers NASA currently has moving on the surface of Mars, whether or not Han shot first, my cat, his cat, the rising cost of feminine sanitary napkins, chickens crossing roads, and BRD/COR songs/rolls.

TO be completely honest, a good DRK carries atleast 2-3 sets of gear. You can't expect to do damage with a acc/atk based set-up for everything. ACC/ATK purpose is for gaining TP and doing decent dps(damage per swing). As for STR/DEX, take out dex, put in INT. IN later levels your big hitting WS are based off of STR/INT/ATK. You end up dropping all your acc and throwing on MAINLY STR/ATK and where you can, INT(This is if you sub thf for Cross Reaper, SPiral ****, SPinning Slash, and Groundstrike). If your subbing WAR for Guillotine, then your best bet is to find a balance. Until you get snow gorget, find the perfect balance of acc/str/atk. Usually 35-40acc is the minimum for a meat build, if u use sushi u can prolly drop down to 20acc gear wise.

I only have one little piece of advice regarding this thread:

Recently I was partying with another DRK, who didn't have Aspir. Every third battle, he'd need to rest to get MP back. Mind you I'm a Taru, so my MP was around 250, and his (Hume) was around 130, so obviously I had fewer MP problems.

Personally, Aspir helped as soon as I could use it.

He wouldn't have needed so much downtime if he had Aspir, so fellow DRKs, invest in it. It'll keep your MP ready for the next battle ^_^

I do. I always thought that only Nightmare Scythe and Guillotine used MND as a secondary modifier, and that CR was STR/INT. Now I know to toss in my AF feet for WS macro not only for Guillotine but also for Cross Reaper, until I can get some good STR gear for the slot.

Just thought I would like to add that Trial Weapons are 300 and Subduer and all other KSNM Latent Weapons are 500. I just noticed it was switched around on the Weapons Post.

Introduction: First of all I am an up & coming DRK. I have lvls DRK 28, WAR 32, NIN 37, Working on THF, and DRM16 (Used when I have to solo). I know these aren't high numbers at all but I have been in the game for about a month so bear with me. I am reading all the entries about becoming a good party member and as stated "Above Average DRK". I have heard more than once FTW (For The Win)and I am trying to fit that area. So all u DRKs don't chew me up too bad. I want to push DRK to the limit. Money is a concern but with 6 mules all Gardening with max # of pots (Picked Gardening because I don't have to keep them on line to produce product) and in addition 1 mule also performs crafting in smithing, Gold smithing, food, and woodworking. I am using mules to as producers so I can leave my Galka in the field to do what I want to do and that is LVLing. After reading I should have maybe gone Elvaan but went this way I will press on with Galka.

Your article seems to cover better than most. I need someone that is exp. Don't have time to waste going different directions. YES, I read ur articles on all the aspects of DRK but there are others articles that seem to go other directions. Please have some patience with me this once. Love the game and character roles. So here I go with the questions. I know this has been discussed before but hang in there an answer these few concerns. I have read in various threads suggestions on armor, weapons, food.

1.Why would I buy armor that takes away DEF and adds one of the other areas (exception acc)?
2. Sence the Scythe seems slow what is the balance between slow and increased DMG? (Scythe is being capped everytime I increase a lvl. Working on G. Sword, and G. Axe.)
3. There seems to a great controvesy on Meat vs Sushi But what about sweets that increase MP?
4. The hardest questions which is Weapon vs Food: What do u higher lvl DRKs use to balance food & Weapon. Is it some basic equation that numerically is used to do the figuring or what?


Yes, I have fun big time with the game but it is more fun to use the right gear vs getting frustrated with wrong gear, not being an asset in a prty, or just wandering around sending money and being less than u could be. I also want to be an asset to the DRK group not just a gamer! :) Sorry this is so long to read but if any DRK sees the name "Meditor" on the Odin server I at least want them to know I am trying **** hard to be a good one even if I ***** up sometimes. Suggestions are always a help, even in the field. Thanks for the article. For people like me, we are trying!

Just saw some thing I figured id correct. The Horror Voulge is the only Voulge type Gaxe that drk can use. The voulge and twicer are both war only.

At the moment (62 DRK) I don't use gear swap macros. I know I should make some but I need to figure out what to swap for which WS. Problem is I have limited inventory slots. Can anyone point me to a useful thread? I'm looked through several threads and found a couple but I'm looking for updated information.

Right now I'm using Chivalrous Chain, Potent Belt, Sniper's Ring x2, Haubergeon, Fourth Division Hands/Feet, Royal Knight breeches and Amamet Mantle.

the level you're at, those are fine for guillotine. you're going to want to concentrate on landing all your hits, then cramming in att, str, acc, and mind if you can't fit one of the other three stats in a slot. after 75 and merits you can begin to slowly remove some of the accuracy and replace it with STR pieces, depending on camp. it takes alot of practice but it's well worth the effort.

as for limited inventory, go do the gobbiebag quests. no reason you shouldn't have 70 slots, it helps TONS.

cross reaper and spinning slash open up soon, you'll want to primarily stack str for both, with mnd for CR and int for SS where you can't fit in str.

Updated again lol, it needed one and still not completed, just spent an hour touching up subjects, adding in some extra armor and gear here and there, re-working on subs, and adding a section where a talk on SE/BW builds and Relic weapons will be discussed. I believe there were a couple ppl who wanted to make those sections so if need be PM me the info, your name will go up there alongside the info you give. I will tweak wording and such if needed but never-the-less you will acknowledged.
