Hi everyone I have been away from the game for 9 months. And just got my account back up and running last night.
What do I need to know about the game today that I wouldnt know. (EXAMPLE did turtle pld come back in style... or is there a new hybrid of paladin that is used in endgame) Any major changes to playing pld? Any you gotta get this weapons and armor come out in the last 9 months (last year cause I really didnt play much the last 3 months)
Or any just info I should know?

Learn about Abyssea. Gear sets from Abyssea haven't revolutionized anything, but they've made it better.
Nothing has changed game-play wise for PLD other than /RDM got a MAJOR nerf bat in terms of enmity generation.
/NIN is still king for big fights.
Look up the different Trials of the Magian weapons - they've got customizable stats that work really well. We also know we're just at the tip of the ice berg with more coming.

awesome i started reading the trial stuff. looks like a huge time sink especially for the elemetal side of things. Do you have to kill the mob while the weather is up or does simply engaging the mob while the weather is up does that count?
its been great to come back have some great friends. I had nothing coming back to the game and they have hooked me up more than i could have ever imagined.

Keep in mind that on the elemental side, most of the trials become Day/Weather, meaning you can spend 0-3 hours (51 minutesish) on a given day to work on your trial. Thus far, I've not spent more than 3 sessions working on any given trial. Another good point is that with a few exceptions (NM drop trials, elemental staff trials, Mythic/Relic trials), you get credit for the kill/ws regardless of who kills the mobs, so it's safe to team up with an alliance and work together. I've gotten to know some good people by virtue of being on the same path as them.
The worst of the trials are the "any weather" trials. Some of them are rare enough to be aggravating. I hear the staff trials on spiders in light weather matches this, for instance. Get help and team up when you can and you can get through many of these trials fairly quickly.

thanks for the team up info. I got lucky the first time I went out to start the trial and someone told me thats how it worked and was rewarded with a easy pass through the first trial.
What I am amazed at is the amount of people refusing to team up to get them knocked out.
