So I know exping PLD to 75 DD gear was the way to go and I thought nothing would be different come this update and expected to gear up my PLD/NIN with DD gear. Apparently I was wrong since every time I go out to an XP pt they demand turtle gear which I find to be simply ridiculous. Did something change 75-80? Personally I don't think so since whenever I RDM a pt with a turtle PLD/WAR they're pretty ******* useless.

Nothing has changed at all. We're just seeing a large majority of the player base that hasn't accepted DD PLD forming parties. Your chances of seeing them is just higher with everyone leveling right now.

A lot of the new rush to 80 is people that got their played jobs to 75 a long long time ago.

Some haven't been in an XP party in a very long time, and in their merit parties wouldn't even consider inviting a PLD.
Hence they're all stuck in the 'PLD is a Damage Taker, not dealer' mentality that they were ever so long ago.

So far my limited foray towards 80 has been with the linkshell, whom know me well as a DD PLD.

Most people never did understand DD PLD. And i believe most never will.

Every time i see a abyssea group shouting for a PLD, i cringe. Because they are likely to get a PLD/WAR loaded up on vit that will do absolutely nothing for the group.

The thing is that all those useless PLDs have always been kept to their LS events. Now they need to XP to 80, so you start seeing them all in the public again.

It'll never be as bad as that party who were set up like a 2005 party, and partied like a 2005 party, skillchains and all.

It's not just PLDs, but anyone who stay holed up in LS community forums or rely on "word of mouth" ingame are ones that crawl out of their inner circle and expect everything to be the same.

I made a party in Bibiki a few days ago, I went as pld/nin in my standard Turban/Haub/Homam getup, with dual swords.

Anyway, after about 10-15minutes I was wondering why I wasn't getting refresh, the RDM didn't actually know I was a PLD :x

Some just aren't used to seeing Paladin's wearing something a little different to your standard fare I guess *shrug*. But I've actually been refused a party for not changing (I'm not sure anyone has even asked me to change before).
drk = 80 sam = 76
pld = 79 thf= 80
nin = 80 drg = 75
mnk = 76 war = 52

Retired for now ^ ***** you Abyssea. FFXIV woo eh..

All depended on my party setup, leveling as PLD you are sometimes more willing to party with job combinations that most others wouldn't give a chance. I did quite a bit of exping on big birds in lufase, and found that the party tending to go a lot smoother if I put my normal /NIN tanking equips and macros. Moslty because I needed the extra mp from Ares and Parade due to lack of refresh sometimes. However, when I exped on birds in bhaf or imps in mire it was 100% DD.

It was just situational.
