AF UsefulnessFollow

Hey guys

Ive just returned from quite a long break from FFXI and i want get get back to leveling my lvl 54 PLD. ATM the only AF i have is the boots which i know are very useful. Since ive returned im playing more casual and i dont really know many ppl to help me get my remaining AF pieces. Getting 3 others can be a real pain for GC and EN is a trial with all the switches and exiting and re-entering.

So what i want to know it what pieces of AF are vital like the boots, am i right in thinking i can use my hauby in place of AF body?

If i do end up having to hunt them do i have to pop the coffers as 54 pld or can i use one of my 75s?

A PLD's AF armor is basically his beginnings of an endgame build. If you just start from scratch you will at least be using the body (and feet with shield ALWAYS) and some I.R. armor for the HP+ and enmity+. The other pieces still have purposes like head for cover/MND boost for Stoneskin and whatnot, legs for buffs as /RDM or /WHM since the +5 is enough to push you a tier of phalanx if you are at capped skill.

The PLD AF is worth it for the storyline alone it is one of the best out there.

You can only open the coffers that give AF directly on PLD. You can still farm the keys on other jobs and you can open the coffer in zvahl that is part of the body quest as any job.

I recommend for GC to just use the jump up from the lycopodiums or use the maw to get behind the third door and wait it out if you cannot get friends.
