I think we should compile a list of events we use Paladin for.
A list describing everyone's "backgrounds" would be nice to have in a list of would be a nice resource for people to have. I think it would be really helpful to know know what events posters attend on Paladin to have built their advice upon.

You're doing fine. Once you can tank all the sky gods well, you can tank pretty much everything else well too. Most big scary HNMs are actually pretty easy and you rely more on your support than you do on actual tanking skills.

This ^, youd be surprised how easy they can be once you have slow on them if applicable, or paralyze. Nothing makes HNMs hard more than crappy support.

Just be smart with what you've got, I just watched 2 Aegis PLDs tanking Cerb (while mining for Khroma) and neither one ever used Shield Bash, not once. (And they didn't Stun 5 Gates of Hades (Stunner nor the PLDs), it was rather funny).
But yeah, once you're used to tanking anything like Sky, you can tank anything with good support behind you.

Its one of the funny things about FFXI. You see people tank sky, and you go "thats a good tank!", then you watch them tank tiamat, and go "thats a good tank!", and really its the support they should be cheering.
Any idiot can go out and buy a cure cheat set to have easily capped hate. Any retard can count to 3. A good support team thats in sync and on the point is a treasure thats hard to find, because that alone will push you to being able to take on bigger monsters.
I've actually watched linkshells that had very competent tanks (I thought, watching them and talking to them afterwards), that completely sucked and could barely handle things as simple as fafnir, because their support was absolutely terrible.

That's my point. I don't tank sky gods. I don't have an HNMLS. I haven't really done anything even remotely related to endgame because I'm just not interested.
On the other hand, I appreciate support people, even if they're total strangers. I did find myself once going head-to-head with Jagidbod's Warmachine during a Campaign battle at Vunkerl Inlet. I was the only one I could see tanking it, but I had probably 25 people casting cure spells on me. I went down eventually, but it bought enough time for more people to show up and take it out.
