Tanking for a static that SATA's the top DD (monk/war). Early and often. I don't know why. And I rarely if ever get SATA's on. And the monk has died. Twice. :(

2 years later, and finally, FINALLY unlocked my marital abjuration head & hand scrolls... =P (mee now thinks stopping at 73 might be better then 72 so I can wear the purty shinies.)

Merit: hit 8/8 Sword from my last merit pt, capping out mob crit atm.

Finally hit 300 on my Sappara of Trials... ****... looks like I'm gonna have to bribe an army of belly stuffed tarus to open those pressure doors... =-=;

Finally got to a point where I feel happy with my Fire, Earth, and basic Magic Damage builds.

Fire Resist

Earth Resist

Magic Damage

Magic Damage I stack HP where I don't have a decent amount of Magic Damage Taken or Magic Defense Bonus, sometimes using Lamia Mantle +1, sometime using Cassie/Intruder Earring, sometimes not swapping Main/Sub if I'm about to Chivalry or Spirits, it's situational.

Obvious upgrades that I'm striving for as I have the cash:

Numinous Shield +1
Black Ribbon
Coral Scale Mail +1 (Friend just hit 100 Bonecraft, gonna try for this soon)
Assault Breastplate (I do Unvinvited Guests almost every week)
Sand Gloves (0/5, I hate Nussnacker)
Tarasque Mitts +1
Triumph Ring
Robust Ring
Cerberus Mantle (This is top priority at the moment)

I'm insanely happy with it so far, the difference is extremely noticeable.

Couple pics of Bahamut V1, I had Barfira from a meritted WHM with AF2 legs and Fire Carol with a Crumhorn+1

0 was with Rampart up, 93 was the norm.

And my damage taken versus normal damage from this BC

My first step towards DDpld today..sold my mnk's o-kotes to finance a hauby and some acc rings. Should have gotten an assault earring, but thats probably next. or Taresque(spcuzitslate) mitts. Still need a ton more stuff, but I am planning to level DRK to 75 next and kind of put mnk onto the back burner, since DRK can share my eventual homam and most other DD gear I can put PLD into, anyway.

Also. Tanked all 4 gods as pld/nin for the first time. Co-tanked with a very long-time friend NIN, we can bounce hate with a single provoke/flash after 2 minutes into the fight or so, giving us very good survivability IMO. This was our LS' second byakko fight and 3rd run total on all 4 sky gods, with only 12 people and hitting up all 4 with no deaths (aside from a suzy wipe- simple miscalulation(re:double-ga on the mages)not withstanding) but we had enough trigs to go round 2 and I think we made her think twice about beating up those poor hapless mages.

Gained confidence +1 in my 'new' LS's teamwork, specially with my tanking partner, while subjob nin, on big fights. I can't wait to get into something bigger.

Nothing so exciting as tanking gods but... Ding! pld 48 and lovin' every level so far!

Question for you longtime meat shields out there, is it worth the hassle to get the Parade Gorget or is it just more of a solo/farming luxury item?

As much as I'd be an advocate of 'training without MP' in extreme situations so you know how useful your other options are JA wise, i must still say the parade gorget is way way worth it. In Dyna when they dont put a rdm in the tank party i have a god aweful time of holding hate(re: sub-excellent hate holding). I hate when I can't preform my best because my lack of MP. When you are holding 5-6 enemies and your hate on them is all due to curing yourself or a sleeper w/ cure 3's and 4's (as necissary only)..you go through mp fast =(

[edit] AF2 Valor feet: {O Button}! These are pretty ****. got to test them out on a few mnks in dyna anyways, I giggled.[/edit]

Nothing huge, but went PLD to a KRT PT.

Definetely a nice change of pace from mindlessly spamming Rampage or Raging Rush over and over.

Wore full DD gear and was the MNKs main healer, so mostly using Spirit Taker, popped out a couple 900-1300 Full Swings on occasion.

So my accomplishment, actually had fun in a XP/Merit PT ^^

Do you have retribution unlocked to try that on skeles with full DD setup? If I'm not mistaken it has a higher dmg mod at 100%tp. Its so hard to find people who have actually unlocked retribution though. It's in the pits of **** really, the fight is. (ifrits surrounded by bombs and scorps-not for just any pickup party)

I unlocked and turned in the pole months ago, I never got around to doing the fight though.

Mostly I was spamming Spirit Taker to contribute as much healing as I could, since we had a RDM and BRD backline, no WHM, but now I think I'll make an effort to unlock it try it out, thanks for the headsup.

I average 550~600 retributions @ 100tp on aura pots when farming for water in sky. No DD gear, just SH/ohat/life belt for accuracy. Usually don't eat any food except maybe tacos. That should help you gauge about how much dmg it is~
Oh, that is using Kirin's polelol Never re-purchased my Kinkobo.

Related to OP/thread: A fellow pld has left my server, but in parting passed along the materials for stage 1 relic shield. In hearing the great news my Dyna leader sounds kinda excited to upgrade it soon. We have a bow and a horn at 4th stages, Im hoping to be next. They had a sam GKT lined up at stage 2,..but seeing as both stage 4s are in my side-hnmls im hoping I can jump into the #3 slot <_<b! wish me luck^^(plus, a relic bow, horn, and shield in a small hnmls of 18~20 members really gives us alot of power to enhance said small numbers!)

Thanks for the input on Retribution ^^

And I've got my fingers crossed for you on the Shield, especially since I also run a very small Sea/Sky/Limbus LS and I can appreciate low-manning stuff.

I finally obtained the Joyeuse this morning! I camped Charby and got ToD last night after a fairly short period of time. This morning I called every friend I knew to try to get enough people to take it down. I ended up with 2 PLD/RDMs, 2 RDMs, 1 BRD, 1 DRK. I was a little worried about our setup because I'd always been told that only NIN or THF can evasion tank Charby. There were also 3 other parties cramped inside the room where he pops so I didn't think we could even get the claim to begin with. We timed the PH deaths so I was ready with my target macro each time so I could flash whatever popped.

All of a sudden Charby popped right beside me! I stumbled to press ALT +1 for my target macro and got him. I quickly hit flash and saw Charby's name turn from yellow to the wonderful color that means I claimed him. I ran up the ramp toward's the door to avoid links from the Devil Mantas and then hit Charby with my 300 tp Spirits Within to get hate. The other PLD did the same and we were off. Our BRD gave us double Mambo and it worked surprizing well, even for PLDs. I was able to keep Stoneskin up for quite a while each cast. When it went down my partner would flash and cure for hate or cover me.

Since neither tank subbed WAR I was worried that our DRK would die after each WS he did, so we had him announce ahead of time when he was ready so we should cover him. This went on slowly but surely until at last Charby bit the bullet.

To see the Joyeuse that I've wanted since I became a PLD sitting in my inventory gave me a warm feeling of PLD goodness all over.
/salute

Well, I wish I could come on here and say I got my Joyeuse. However, I feel that today was a good day; tanked Divine Might and got my Suppa.

Unfortunately some good ls mates couldn't get in on run, which was a really big bummer for them, however I did come away with a nice prize.

Now, if I can just get my hands on a Joyeuse and beat CoP for my Rajas I will be in business.

Congrats to everyone in here for all of their accomplishments and I wish you continued success!!

Recently capped Club, and Staff skill, and then more recently, and I suppose somewhat worthwhile, capped Parrying. Maybe its just a palcebo sort of effect with the number higher, but I'd like to think that since hitting the 220ish areas for Parrying I have noticed an improvement. Whereas before I would parry like... well, never, I find I tend to parry enough attacks that it's noticable.

The two combat skills I have left to cap on Paladin now is Polearm or Dagger, I don't know if I will ever get around to Polearm, but when I have time I tend to ***** around with my dagger.

Co-tanked Jailer of Love with 2 other paladins. Got the win on our very first try... and spawned AV which promptly raped the lot of us. Was my second time ever tanking as pld/nin, atleast you don't sit in melee range which made things easy.
