Most intense fight ever O_O;

Details?

I've been wanting to tank him since the updates to PLD, just curious what your PT setup, gear, and battle plan was.

Also, I got Megaflare down to consistent 71's with the addition of Shining Ruby and Magus Roll.

Happened to be passing through Whitegate and I see a shout for a tank for Leviathon. I need that avatar, so I join up. On the way there its pointed out that I should change my subjob to /nin (I had forgot to change from /whm while doing some sneaking aroound for a mission). I was like oops, and run to norg and change to /war. And the War/nin is like "you will die from 2hr unless you are /nin" (I am 75pld/37war, 27nin). I was like, well /nin is way underleveled and I don't have ni if it wasn't, so /war it is. We get there, and start fighting Leviathon. At some point I see the war go down, and my hp barely moved. Checked the log later, and the 2hr had hit me for like 167. Leviathon spamming Water IV was doing far more damage to me then Tidal Wave did. Anyways, killed Leviathon with no other deaths. Took about 6 min with a balanced exp party

Still need to upgrade my shield tho but koenig is expensive with the current adaman ingot prices.
I'm next in line for homam hands and second in line for shadow mantle then maybe I'll upgrade my AF shoes when I got all the coins.
EDIT: And I want a bahamut mask or Aegishjalmar but I won't get that for a while.

I've had a very eventful festive period, it started with defeating Maat at level 67, forgot to use the Bream Sushi I took with me, as well as an Icarus Wing (I went in with a bit more of a DD build) and took him down pretty easily.

Then only a few days after that I hit 70PLD, my first 70 job!

And only the other night, I managed to obtain a ToD for Charby, and got a good group of LS friends together, nearly 2 full pt's, and took him down after a bit of trouble with hate control until around 60%, and was plain sailing from there.

All in all, a very successful period, and looking forward to a good year of Dyna activity and meriting ^^

P.S. Thanks to the WHM who helped us out while fighting Charby by giving R3's during the fight :D

Most shocking of all was beating ZM8, we totally expected to get trounced on that, I did not think I could survive him at all.

Ok, my latest and greatest as to date are as follows...

Unlocked Guardian JT, Got Rank 10 for San d'Oria, and stayed alive for 6 minutes with 3 NM's kicking the **** out of me at a campaign battle in Vunkirk Isle or where ever its called. The part I'm excited about that was I was the only one who showed up initially. The funny part is 15 seconds after I dropped NPC and PC re-inforcements showed up... /sigh.

Anyways I'm just happy to have Rank 10, its been 4 years comin...

Did our first LS KS99 today. Early bird catches the Wyrm. Just a few quick fun facts:
I don't have a fire resist build
Neither did my co tank
We didn't keep hate when he flew up anyway, as we were both /nin
Wiped the first run, won the next 3(or4- it was a long night)
Did the first run with 15 people, 2nd with 16, last 2 with 17.

Not bad at all but our LS varies greatly in gear/merits from member to member. Luckily we made good choices, I am very happy with the recruiting we have done^^
I held hate consistantly near-even with my co-tank most of the time, although with the melee all /sam or /war respectively it was not easy. Next time with some minor adjustments such as sleeping for spirits TP and having a melee or 2 go /thf, some better foot placings and little more firepower while hes in the air, and we'll have it aced.

Looking forward to adding more accomplishments as my LS grows and so do I.^^

Well, just got another long party, and I gotta tell you, it was rockin'

Got from level 31-37.5, being able to use flash was great.

Letting the thf SATA VB on the DRK, was even better.

Being called an "Incredibly Tough Paladin," and a "Hate God" was what topped my day.

**** I love this job.

Last dynamis we attempted our Dyna -valkurm clear; we got him down to 20% or so >.< We have enough firepower, but we had the first RDM/DRK pull initial aggro with his 2hr chainspelling which ended up getting him killed after 2 or 3 stuns. :/ We only had 2 PLDs, and I had already used my 2hr on the funguar; we had no 'official' back up on the main tank, leading to the thought of having the rdm/drk start the fight incase he did the instant death move, we'd have no way of tanking it. D: okay so; Valor cape dropped.

[/rantgo]
My accomplishement was: almost winning the lot w/ a whopping 75. I cast lots first, and get a 75 and everyone on vent is like Oooooooohh dang that sucks etc etc. 2nd pld lots a 34 or something and My side just wouldnt stop hurting from the laughter @.@; SO THEN. THIS **** who never brings PLD for dynamis, and another guy who also never brings his; both lot for 500 and 700 something. I was so **** I didn't even try to get on for the next dyna run, and so what do I hear when I am back on FFXI? 'We had no plds for last dyna run where were you Lac'. Yuuuuup. I'm looking forward to going off on these two guys who think its ok to lot when they never bring the job to help the LS when we need plds. That's my accomplishment, almost winning a lot w/ 75. ;)[/rantstop]

My Former HNM watched 4 or 5 surcoats go to people who I didn't even know had Paladin leveled. Meanwhile they liked to all make fun of the other main tank for the shell, who obviously never got his. Alot of dirty filty lootwhores out there.

As far as Paladin accomplishments for me, He is offically capped. Capped XP, All combat skills capped, all possible merit catagories for him capped, all magic skills capped ,and all Paladin usuable quested WSs aquired.

There shall be no more skilling up on Paladin ever again.

And I got a shiney new spear, probably only useful on JoL but it sure is purty!

This morning I finally got a Joyeuse. Was camping all night just trying to get the ToD. Right before I was about to go afk to get ToD while I was sleeping he spawned.

A party of 2 RDM got the claim and started to DoT, gravity and bind him back and forth of the ramp. Luckily there was a THF and a WHM on my ls at the time and when I told them Charybdis was up they started to head down.

So while the RDM's kept kiting it and slowly DoT'ing I ran to Norg to switch to my 72 BRD and meet up with my ls mates. By the time we got to the Charybdis room he was at about 90%. The 2 RDM were still kiting him without any problems until... a water elemental spawned behind them and they aggroed it.

I knew they'd be doomed eventually cause everyone told me Charybdis starts to resist bind and gravity after awhile. There was about 15 people there by this time, all waiting for the RDMs to die. At this time my THF friend was /following the nm spamming his steal macro for when they died and lost claim. They got bind resisted and Charybdis destroyed one of the RDM and other one was goin down quick when the nm went unclaimed. THF instantly got claim with steal and we started to fight.

The fight went incredibly smooth, I just made sure to keep double Mambo up on him at all times and ballad on the whm. THF never once got hit, he was also a very well geared thf to. only damage done to him was by the nm's AOE moves. 30 minutes later I got the sword I've been dreaming of having for all these years.

Thank you so much Sesshomaru and Assyria, I owe you big time.

My PLD's Greatest Achievement to date is Main Healing as PLD/WHM in an EXP PT Yesterday.

I have always wanted to try it at least once to prove that Elvaan PLDs can do it too and I have finally realised my wish!

It started out because no other WHM, RDM, SCH, SMN or BRD were on Seek. There was a couple of DNCs but they did not reply to my tells (likely AFK). We got a NIN to Tank instead.

Our PT Setup
75 NIN/WAR (Tank)
72 DRK/WAR
72 DRG/WAR
72 COR/NIN
72 RDM/WHM
72 PLD/WHM (Main Heal)

We were doing a roaming PT on Trolls at Halvung and our DRG, COR, RDM and myself Dinged 73 during the PT.

On Full MP Gear, I have about 660 MP. With V.Cloak, Parade Gorget, Auto-Refresh, Refresh, Evoker's Roll and Sanction Refresh, its almost a Constant 10 MP/Tick. Add to that a Blink Tank and there are no issues of keeping MP up.

Once in a while when our NIN's Shadows are down (when facing MNK Trolls), I'll Cover to let him get his Shadows Up. With Stoneskin, Blink and Sentinel, the Damage Taken during Cover are Minimal.

On Non-MNK Mobs, we have a Stun-Flash Order so that our NIN will be able to re-apply Shadows without any problems. Usually the DRK will Stun and I counted 2 sec before throwing up a Flash.

I'm still excited about Main Healing as a PLD/WHM and will not mind doing it again if opportunities arise. :D

Real simple:

Supertanked Divine Might as Paladin/BlueMage, went 1/1.

All the A.A. at once (minus the TT)= One **** of a Rush

Picked up my Parade Gorget (went 1/9 on the **** nm). Want to thank Sholah, Amberly, and Melpomne for all coming and having THF subbed (or main'd).

Got PLD from 45-50 over the weekend and got G1 done, Yay!

I'd never argue that PLD/BLU works well in DM, it certainly does, I was only referring to the people that argue that it ONLY works with /BLU.

LOL! :)

Sorry NC, I didn't even see your post above mine. Please don't take what I said as an argument about /blu vs /war. I know both work well, as does sword/shield vs earth staff and kiting.

I really need to learn to read previous posts a little better. :p

Tanked Faust PLD/NIN

I didn't even realize I was /NIN (I fail) until we were ready to pull, had to borrow some tools from a friend. Fight was surprisingly easy, never lost hate until the last 10% when a bored WAR/SAM ran in and lit off a 300 Steel Cyclone for lulz.
